Creating 'Found Treasure'

I'm an independent jewellery designer/maker, working from my studio in the heart of Whitchurch Village in Cardiff.

My core work is based around the concept of ‘discovered artefacts’. My jewellery designs feature a range of textures, patinas and finishes, exploring the concepts of weathering, aging and wear. These are brought to life with colourful gemstones, natural crystals, mineral specimens and bright flashes of keum-boo.
All of my jewellery is very tactile, and intended to feel as interesting as it looks.

Each piece is made with the intention of inspiring the happy feeling of found treasure.

I am happy to guide you in ethical purchasing, and will offer recycled silver and gold options where possible, along with being able to inform you of more ethical and eco-friendly stone choices. I am a registered Fairtrade goldsmith, so am able to source and use Fairtrade gold in your design.

On a more personal note, I'm a lover of forest walks, science-fiction books, horror films, video games, exploring churches, animals of all kinds, clementines, perfume, and space.

I have Asperger's Syndrome, (Autism) meaning I am neurologically divergent. This is less scary than it sounds!

The way I process the information I'm getting from the world is different to your average human. One of the main ways this affects me is I have sensory processing disorder. This means I get a deep satisfaction from the physical feedback involved in the forming of the precious metals I use, which is a bonus. My tactile responses mean you find a lot of textures, finishes and contrasts in my work. It also means I am photosensitive & can't filter out noise (I always listen to music when working to avoid distraction). I hyper-focus, which is a fantastic way to get a project done, and means when I'm working on a piece of jewellery, that it has 100% of my attention.

I love experimenting, and exploring my sensory relationship with the world has led to me introducing surprise elements to my jewellery, such as settings that glow in the dark, and necklaces you can add scent to.

For custom or other enquiries, please convo me or email lydia [!at] niziblian.com
I hope I can make you something beautiful soon!
