~~WELCOME TO LLYYNN - Lynn Davis Medallions, Components and Jewelry ~~
The History of This Shop, My Jewelry Creations and The Background of My Adventure in Creativity!

All pieces in the shop are created entirely by me, hand crafted individually. Handmade items by their nature sometimes have imperfections and in my process to replicate antiques and artifacts that is intentional, these are not machine-made pieces or repurposed items, everything is handmade from glass, pewter, resin, metal and wire from my imagination

Pewter is hand cast by me from 100% jewelry grade pewter, an alloy of tin and other metals combined for color and strength, no lead or nickel is ever used in my pewter

All glass fused in the kiln to 1500 degrees F (often more than once) with images embedded deeply inside and annealed (cooled very, very slowly) for long-lasting beauty

All handmade replicas from components created from new materials, not vintage recycled or repurposed, or found objects converted.

Additional policies and FAQs
---Where does *LLYYNN* come from? - A trip to Ireland sparked the idea of an irish spelling (Llynn) for my name, and it turned into doubling all the letters to LLYYNN

LLYYNN FAQ's (Frequently Asked Questions)

--What kind of pewter do you use? --The pewter is an alloy of metals, 100% lead-free and no nickel for those who have allergies, it's lightweight yet sturdy and hand cast by me from molten metal

---Where do your bezels come from? --- I create the shapes in clay, then take molds and cast by hand in pewter. All my bezels are my designs and are cast, finished and patinaed by me, so they have the mark of the maker on them, and each one is individual, they don't look "modern" or machine-made, to more closely reproduce the antique look I love

----How do you get the resin pieces to look so old? -- I collect old images, books, receipts and other items, and use reproductions of the old fashioned images to create my handmade resin inserts to the hand cast pewter bezels. I preserve the colors from the originals, giving them the old-timey look that matches well with the bezels, to make the focal beads for fauxtique-style jewelry

---What's a "FAUXTIQUE"? --- I came up with the term to describe a newly created piece for jewelry, totally handmade, that resembles an antique or vintage piece or reproduces an existing antique design - it's a faux antique

---Why do the pieces look so old if they are newly created? - The pewter, silver and copper are given a patina of wear and brushed to a satin finish; the bezels are hand designed to reproduce antique styles; the resin pieces have the matte finish of an antique; the glass is often beveled and fire polished to imitate vintage costume gemstone styles

---Why don't you use real vintage pieces instead of invented vintage? - Anything I can imagine can be created, I don't have to deconstruct a real antique or vintage piece; I can have any size and color; I can have two components alike for earrings; I'm not restricted by vintage available or affordable to purchase -- the sky and my imagination is the only limit to the creativity!

--Where do you get the fused glass? -- I buy sheets of glass that are fusing compatible and fire it in my kiln to create fused components to use in my pieces

--How do I take care of the jewelry with fused glass? -- A light wipe with a silver polishing cloth is all they need, soaking in water or jewelry cleaning solutions is not recommended; although very sturdy, keep in mind that they are glass, and avoid dropping onto tile or concrete; not recommended for wear in swimming pools or hot tubs, as the water pH may cause the silver to tarnish and require polishing

---Why is the reverse of some of the fused glass open, without silver wrapping around to the back of the glass? -- On the transparent, translucent and those with designs embedded, having the glass back open allows light through and enhances visibility of the design

---What is dichroic glass all about? --Glass invented for scientific and optical purposes use a vacuum to create a thin coating of substances on the glass surface; artists discovered it creates beautiful effects when fused in a kiln. Much more costly than other fusing glass, but definitely worth it!
