About

Jewelry crafted with attention to detail.

Welcome! My name is Ginger and I am the owner of Lynn Leigh Designs.

My love for jewelry and jewelry-making started when I was a child, stringing buttons from my mother's button box. One of my favorite things about being a Camp Fire Girl was that we got beads as awards, not badges. I still have all my merit beads!

Camp Fire Girls was where I learned loom beading and bead embroidery. I beaded my headband and made my buckskin dress, which had lots of bead embroidery. When my brother became a boy scout, my mother & I made warbonnets for the pack. I beaded all of the headbands.

I have always been a crafter. Both of my parents were creative. My Dad loved woodcarving and woodworking. He carved wonderful folk art horses and built carts & wagons for them. Every year he made rocking horse Christmas ornaments for his grandchildren. My Mom and I enjoyed many crafts - making candles, designing floral wreaths, sewing doll clothes and 'people' clothes, making ceramics, and many others.

I share my love for the needle arts with my mother. I have many of her crocheted afghans, tablecloths, & doilies. She did beautiful crewel embroidery and cross-stitch work, including cross-stitching many quilt tops. I learned to crochet and tat at an early age (Dad taught me to tat, an art he had learned during a long childhood illness.). I especially love counted cross-stitch and needlepoint.

My husband, Terry, and I have known each other for nearly 60 years and have been married for nearly 47 years. When our daughter was three years old, I asked my father-in-law to build her a dollhouse. He also built a barn for our son and a general store for me. Those projects began a 35-year journey into the world of dollhouses and miniatures. Over the years Terry and I have built more than 50 dollhouse and vignettes. I still have five dollhouses and more than a dozen vignettes. I loved doing 'miniature' scale needlework and my husband built furniture.

After retirement from federal service, I began decorative painting. We owned a shop for several years where we sold supplies and had weekly classes.

We closed the shop about 12 years ago and retired to our little lake house at Pomme de Terre Lake in Missouri about 8 years ago. I returned to jewelry making after we closed the shop and returned to participating in craft fairs (we used to do about 20 fairs a year with our decorative painting).

I love jewelry making! From stringing to bead weaving! Simple to complex (I love a challenge). My love of vintage jewelry has morphed into my latest passion - creating assemblage jewelry with vintage bits and pieces.

A last word about my shop name. We have two amazing children who are married and have given us five grandsons. The shop name combines our daughter's middle name (Teresa Lynn) and our son's middle name (Ryan Leigh).
