Why I paint
When the COVID-19 pandemic hit and my wife and I started to work from home in our little studio in Manhattan, there was not much to do. Thats's why I started paitning. Again.
My first drawings as a kid were of a little mouse. When my parents saw that I liked drawing, they sent me to an art school in a nearby town. There I learn different art techniques, but at some point, I became more interested in computers and science. That became my passion and it is my profession today.
In a way, I found a different kind of beauty in the scientific approach - not mutualy exclusive to an artistic kind of beauty. I never stopped being creative, but for a long time, I stopped drawing and painting.
When I started again, I wasn't sure about the right technique and what to paint. My first finished painting was based on a photo from Central Park, where I go running and biking often. This painting was later given to my family in California as a gift. People liked it and I had a great time working on it.
Painting gives me time to think and reflect. A sense of serenity, accomplishment and focus.
