About

working for home isn't always easy but it's worth it

As long as I can remember I have always sewn or created with fiber. I still remember the first skirt I made for myself at the age of 5

I have been sewing for a living for over 20 years. When I started I worked for an alteration shop in Mississippi where I made a point of taking the hardest jobs to learn as much as possible about construction and when we moved to Oklahoma I was offered a job ay a costume shop where I learned so much about the design process and visualizing in 3D it didn't pay a huge amount but I think it was so worth the experience.

Over 15 years ago we decided to start a family and we both knew me being home full time was the way we wanted our children raised so I started sewing form home. The first few years I spent figuring out what sewing work I enjoyed the most. I dabbled in bridal and knew that was not something I wanted to focus on but while doing a wedding I met a local shop owner who asked me to do some pillows for her shop from there it grew. I found I had a real flair for home décor. I love putting different patterns and textures together and still do Home décor work with a great customer base here.

Etsy was introduced to me by a friend who said I should look into it and for almost 2 years I looked at Etsy but did nothing with it then in the spring of 2009 I felt the need to create some items totally on my own, while I love my Home décor work and do love working with clients I wanted something that was totally mine. At the time my youngest was 2 years old so I started designing clothes for her and people started asking about them and that's when I remembered Etsy and my shop was born. My shop has changed over the years my cute two year old is now seven and is very opinionated about her clothes so designing for her has become not as fun.

Almost 3 years ago I received my first DSL camera as a gift from my mother and the first thing I bought was a zoom lens for it one trip to the zoo I realized there had to be something better than carrying an entire camera bag. That night I came home and designed my first lens case which I still use. After that the camera section of my shop grew and became the main focus of my Etsy shop. Later that year I purchased my first embroidery machine and started adding monogramming to my camera straps and accessories since I now had an embroidery machine adding makeup bags and personal items seems to be the natural direction of my shop.

I love working on smaller items after years of hauling huge drapes around my sewing room and in the last 2 years I have focused more on Etsy than my Home Décor since that is where I would eventually like the majority of my work to be. I still love and will always do Home décor sewing for customers who have become friends but Etsy is where I would like the bulk of my work to come from as it fits better into my lifestyle now.

Thank you for visiting my shop and I hope you come back to see what I'll be growing this into
