Note from shop owner Thank you for visiting Magweno Art Dolls online shop! I am currently studying full time on the Isle of Skye and unable to process any orders. If you want to get in touch about an order please email hello [!at] magweno.com

I will be attending ToyCon UK 2017 in York Hall, London on 29th and 30th April. I'll have a selection of Dragon Foxes, Mofs, Jackabunnies, Coos and a few one-off pieces. Any unsold stock will be put up in this shop the week after.

I have had a really rough few months, with my partner of nine years breaking up with me, three house moves and family issues, which added up to a huge mental block. Along with college I just got completely overwhelmed. I lost the heart to create, but the support and love from my friends and followers online has helped me push through. I am so lucky to have wonderful customers, and I wish I could give each and every one of you a big hug. Thank you for your patience and your support - it means the world to me. Here's hoping 2017 will straighten out. When you hit rock bottom you can only go up. :)

If you're planning on ordering during Abdab season, you should read my review. Yes, it will take time. I ordered in November and received my order a bit before Christmas. And I wasn't expecting it any earlier: with all of those different models and the fact that they're available at such a low price in unlimited quantities during the whole Abdab season, it's entirely normal that I had to wait. But it was entirely worth it. My Ruda Abdab is adorable, the craftsmanship is impeccable, you can tell Magweno works on these with love and patience. So if you're not patient, order at a different time or go elsewhere. But then you'll be missing on the cutest Halloween treats.

About

Fantasy Creatures from the Highlands of Scotland

My chosen name is Magweno and needs a little explanation. It's pronounced "mah-gweh-no" and is an amalgamation of my full name - Maddy Gwenyth Norval. (It's fun to try this with your own name, my OH is Rojojahu!) Makes a bit more sense now!

Magweno Art Dolls started in my final year of University studying Illustration in 2011. Art dolls always captured my imagination with their versatility and distinct anatomy, and I always love getting my hands dirty! I illustrated a short story called the "Laird of Morphie" and the interest sparked from that led me to starting my own business making and selling art dolls on commission.

I'm now at the stage (time of writing: Feb 2014) that I can creature limited edition lines of cast fantasy creatures and customise the colour palettes. It works well for both sides, I can have a high turnover and unleash creativity, the customer can get a beautiful work of collectible art for an affordable price. Those who want something more special contact me directly (hello@magweno.com) for an entirely custom art doll, these start at £180 but are fully articulated and unique.

I wear my heart on my sleeve when it comes to my work and every comment or criticism is read and considered. I love getting messages, no matter what they're about, so please feel free to email me or send me a direct message here! I love getting to know people, and especially love talking about Scotland - my home country.

My work is heavily influenced by folk lore and mysterious creatures in tales, specifically Scottish and Celtic folk lore. I live in North Scotland, where the land is wild and remote and you can feel the roots of the earth below you. Forests and meadows attract me in particular, and you will find a lot of my work plays on this along with the ever popular "cute" aspect! Pampered pet dragons, doe-eyed kirins and round fuzzy highland cow balls are the order of the day!

I also have an intense love of bright, colourful tones. Rich, spring-like florals and fresh palettes are my favourite. Combining the two - Scotland and spring flower colours - yields interesting and bright results!
