My unique handwriting necklaces now have the handwriting image that you send to me on the necklace backing card! I am really pleased with how smart they are looking, and it makes gifting the necklaces just that little bit even more special.
Almost ready to post! I just need to gift wrap the box now..

About

A maker for life.

I always made. In art at school when everyone else was drawing, I was making. I recall making an absolute racket during my Art GCSE exam with a hammer while everyone else was making no more noise than a brush stroke. My wire obsession is where it really began. During my A levels I spent the best part of a year making experimental wire pieces. Way back then I had my heart set on becoming a jeweller, but I took a bit of a funny route from then on. I went on to study an Art Foundation year at Newcastle-Under-Lyme college (I can't recommend the course enough!) and specialised in 3D design (and making, of course!). The course really opened my eyes to the possibilities of all sorts of materials, and so I ended up studying Model Making at the Arts University in Bournemouth for my degree. I wanted to really explore as many different materials as I could.

After graduating I went on to work in a model making job in Bristol, which I enjoyed (especially the people!) but my wrists couldn't hack the job and I ended up having to leave and take some time out from making. Quite a while actually. I hated not being able to make more than anything.

After a good 7 or 8 months I very slowly started making again, but this time from home. I made silicone bracelet moulds and resin bracelets. I made brass cuff bracelets.. and I opened my Etsy shop!

Over the last couple of years I have taught myself to make silver and gold jewellery, to set gemstones, to solder. What can I say, I love it! And I got here in the end!

Around the same time that I started working in silver I was contacted my a customer from Germany who had seen my name necklace in my Etsy shop. He asked if I could create a similar necklace using his 4 year old son's handwriting and I absolutely loved the idea. I went on to make my late uncle's signature as a necklace for his twin sister, my mum. The handwriting necklaces have gone on to become best sellers, and I absolutely love the sentiment involved in and every one of them. I make them entirely by hand, sawing and filing for hours on end. I take pride in finishing them to a very high quality, and my customers often say how they are even more special to them as they are not machine made.

I now work from my home studio in Staffordshire overlooking rolling hills with little ponies on the horizon, and wouldn't change it for the world.
