A little about what you see in the shop…

Mad Hatter Original soaps – Part of my regular catalog of scents, these soaps are usually available throughout the year. Some scents will take a temporary “vacation” depending on the season.

Mad Hatter Dark soaps –Also part of my regular catalog of scents, these soaps all have a "dark" themed name and many tend to be a bit more complex in scent. Well, truth be told, these soaps were simply a bunch of wayward troublemakers that were seduced over to the dark side never to return. I had no choice but to label them appropriately. If you are feeling a bit wanton and find yourself needing to get in touch with your own darker side, these amazing scents were created for you. Indulge!

Mad Hatter Limited Edition soaps – These scents are released on a limited basis and with a special label design (usually for a particular holiday or season), so stock up if you find a favorite! There is no guarantee you will be able to get these scents again once they’re gone.

Body Whip – A wonderful whipped hand and body crème that is available in almost every scent you see in the shop. If you don’t see your favorite scent listed, just ask. If it’s not already on my shelf, I can usually make it for you.

Polished – An exfoliating, skin-softening concoction that will leave your skin feeling and smelling divine! At this time, I am only offering Polished sugar scrubs in a limited number of scents.

Butter – An amazing body butter for serious moisturizing. Available in a limited number of scents.

*Shop Philosophy -

Mad Hatter Soap Co. is based on three basic principles:

KEEP IT NATURAL - All of my soaps are handmade from scratch in small batches using the old fashioned cold-process method. Only natural plant-based oils, butters, botanicals, and high quality phthalate-free fragrance and essential oils are used. I never use SLS or other harsh chemicals or detergents found in many mass produced soaps. The majority of my soaps are vegan and all products are cruelty free. (Please note that I do use a mix of natural essential oils and high quality, body safe fragrance oils which are synthetically created. Fragrance oils are typically the only non-natural ingredient found in my soaps.)

KEEP IT FUN - It’s called “Mad Hatter Soap” for a reason. Let’s face it, commercial soap is boring and many natural soaps are just plain dull. I think soap can be natural and fun! From colors and scents, to ingredients and labeling, every soap batch is truly a creative and unique sensory experience. I am constantly developing new recipes and fragrance blends to offer a wide range of soaps for everyone’s taste. I don’t use fancy soap molds or machines and every bar is rough-cut, labeled, and wrapped by hand.

KEEP IT GREEN – I am committed to making products that have minimal impact on the environment. All soaps are created using organic, sustainably harvested palm oil. In addition, I do not over-package my products in fancy boxes and wrappers, and I avoid using plastic wrap whenever possible. All soap labels, tissue, and other paper items are made from recycled paper. Oils and other ingredients are purchased locally when available and I recycle or reuse everything I can, right down to the soap scraps. Packing and mailing supplies are made from recyclable materials and I try to reuse packing material whenever possible. When you receive an order from me, please recycle or reuse as much as possible. Keeping it green also means that bar soap is my specialty. Why? It uses much less water than liquid soaps and bath gels, and requires less packaging and zero preservatives.

Accepted payment methods

Returns and exchanges
Unfortunately, due to the personal nature of these products, I cannot offer a guaranteed return policy. There will be NO RETURNS on any items with the exception of circumstances where the item is found to be damaged or defective, to be determined on a case-by-case basis. If for any reason you are simply unhappy with your purchase, please contact me as soon as possible so that I can do my best to correct any problems. If the product you receive is damaged or was sent by mistake, I will happily correct it at no charge. Just convo me or email me at madhattersoap [!at] gmail.com with any problems or questions you may have.

Natural variations are an inherent quality of handmade soaps. For this reason, I cannot accept returns due to slight variations in color, size, texture or scent. Every item is marked appropriately with all ingredients along with a scent description. Please make absolutely sure that you have read everything carefully before placing an order so as not to purchase something you may be allergic to.
Payment
At this time, PayPal is the only method of payment accepted. Please note that you do not need a PayPal account to pay - simply scroll to the bottom of the PayPal link (once you have purchased) and there will be an option for non-account holders to pay via credit card. Payment should be made within 2 days of placing your order. If you are unable to pay within this time frame, please contact me so that I am aware. Otherwise, your sale may be canceled and items relisted.

**RESERVED LISTINGS - I am happy to place items into a reserved listing when requested, but I ask that the listing be purchased and paid for within 2 days of its listing. I will no longer hold reserved listings in the shop for longer than 2 days. Please do not request a reserved listing unless you are ready to purchase within this time frame or unless you have made arrangements with me for a longer period of time.
Shipping
SHIPPING ADDRESS: I always ship from the address given on Etsy and not the one at PayPal. Please let me know if a specific address other than Etsy should be used. I cannot be held responsible for incorrect addresses provided on Etsy.

SHIPPING TIME: Current turn around time is listed on the front page of the shop. If for some reason I am unable to ship within this time frame, I will contact you. However, I hate waiting for things to ship by mail as much as the next person, so I make every effort to ship within 2 days if possible.

RATES: At this time, I ship to the US and Canada ONLY. International orders are shipped on a case by case basis. Items are shipped via the US Postal Service by First Class Mail or Priority Mail depending on weight. Any order totaling more than 13oz must ship Priority Mail. If you are buying multiple items, I will pack as much into a flat rate box as I can fit. If you have paid more than it costs to ship, I will refund any difference of $.50 or more. A small flat rate shipping envelope is only $4.95 and fits up to 6 bars. A larger flat rate box ships for $10.20 and holds a ton of items.

INSURANCE: I do not insure packages unless requested. Insurance is optional and at the buyer’s expense. If you are buying a large number of items, I highly encourage the purchase of insurance.

TRACKING: Each package is shipped with delivery confirmation and a tracking number is sent to your email by the USPS. Delivery confirmation does not provide insurance, nor does it allow you to track (follow) your package as it makes its way to you. It only informs you of the date your package is prepared to be shipped and the date your package arrives at your local postal facility and is delivered to your door. If you receive a tracking number stating that the shipping information has been received by the Post Office, this means that I have printed postage for your items and your package has been mailed.

For Canadian customers - Shipping to Canada will be at the cheapest rate possible and DOES NOT include insurance or tracking.
Additional policies and FAQs
IMPORTANT: If you have allergies, please make sure to read the ingredients used in each product. Some soaps contain oils obtained from nuts and should be avoided by people with severe nut allergies. If you are unsure about any product, please contact your health care provider. If a rash or irritation occurs, DISCONTINUE USE IMMEDIATELY. I make no medical or therapeutic claims about my products. Information on the qualities of certain oils and other ingredients is based upon information obtained from suppliers, from industry data, and from other experienced and knowledgeable soap crafters. If you have any questions about a particular ingredient, feel free to contact me and I'll be happy to explain.

CARE OF SOAP: Handmade soaps are naturally high in glycerin, a humectant that draws water to itself. To get the most bang for your buck and save your lovely soaps from a watery end, use a well draining soap dish that allows soap to dry between uses. A bar left under running water will surely meet an untimely demise. Store soaps in a cool, dry location when not being used. Storage in a sealed plastic baggie will help preserve the fragrance. Because my soaps contain a high content of natural oils and botanicals, I recommend use within one year from purchase.
