About MadHouseMindWorks

Mad House Mind Works has existed since 2008 on Etsy and started out as a simple jewelry making hobby for the owner,Lauren Bell. She has been designing jewelry for over 10 years now, first getting her start in highschool selling bracelets(and getting in trouble for it!) during math class. Lauren discovered steampunk around the turn of the decade and has happily been turning gears and making goggles since!

She has also won an award for her unique steampunk jewelry designs(2013 RAWArtists Honolulu City Award),been featured in 2 galleries and 2 retail stores, and has hosted or co hosted a couple steampunk panels at anime/fantasy conventions.

Her most asked question is how she came up with the name:

“Mad House Mind Works.”?

The answer is thus:

“My husband came home from work one day to find me in our converted to the craft room second bedroom. He saw me busy working on jewelry and asked me,”What is going on inside the mad house of your mind,my dear?”

and so,a name was forged for something that would grow to encompass many aspects of both their lives.

Lauren even has a mascot for her growing steampunk prop and jewelry business. It is only known as the mysterious “steam dragoness” and shows up frequently in a red and black dragon fursuit at local geek meets to promote her works.

I am 31 years old, married to a soldier and have 2 four legged children. I am inspired by my travels, books and colors. Recently, steam-punk has caught my fancy and I am currently researching how to blend it with the local culture.
