Madison & Maude - Artisan maker of high-end leather pet products in our studio in New Kent, Virginia

I found it a challenge to locate affordable quality pet accessories in an industry that was predominantly mass-producing pet products and producing mediocre results and cookie cutter designs. Leather pet products were lacking the durability, quality and character I felt our pets deserved, and simply did not work for me.

Never known to settle for less, after my retirement in 2016, I decided to take the full-time plunge and set out to make my own luxury line of pet products. I found my passion in designing and creating a line of pet products for my family and friends to help make their 4-legged family members stand out through high-end pet products that were not only functional but also dazzling, beautiful designs.

The name Madison & Maude, because this name encompasses the love our family has had for pets for over 150 years, all the way from grandmother to my youngest granddaughter. But the name goes far beyond that— it’s also a pet caring philosophy. We believe that the perfect pet product should have two components: first, it should be safe, durable and comfortable, and second, the look and design should be full of special touches that make you feel absolutely giddy each time your pet is wearing our product.

All of our products are skillfully handmade to order, one at a time, and matched with the finest quality materials such as Genuine Leather, SwarovskiⓇ Crystals and the strongest stainless steel hardware available.

I live in New Kent, Virginia with my husband, Bob and two dogs, Abby and Roxie. I feel so fortunate to spend my days doing what I love most and hope you will consider Madison & Maude for all your pet needs.

What if I receive a damaged item?

The Importance of Measuring for Proper Size

Our leather products are all custom made, therefore they are non-refundable or non-returnable due to the extensive amount of time and material costs associated with making your custom product.

When purchasing a custom collar or leash we will work from the size you provide to us. Therefore correctly measuring is extremely important. Please see our measuring guide located in each photo section of a listing.

Warranty Information

All leather products manufactured by Madison & Maude are backed by a warranty that lasts throughout the useful life of the product.

Madison & Maude will repair or replace at no charge:
* Loose or missing Crystals, Gemstones, Conchos, spikes or Spots
* Hardware or material failures
* Add extra buckle holes

Our warranty does not cover normal wear and tear.

Do you accept exchanges/returns?

We guarantee our craftsmanship completely and that your order will be made as you ordered it. If we made a mistake on your order or if there is a material defect, please message us as soon as possible and we will repair/exchange the item depending on the type of defect.

For custom orders we do not accept returns. However, we want you to love your order, so if you are not happy with the size, color, etc. of your order we can possibly work with you to exchange it for a restocking fee.

- A 10% restocking fee applies to all exchanges. If you’d like to exchange an item, the cost of the exchanged item will be applied toward the cost of the new item. Due to the custom nature of our items we do not provide monetary refunds

Exchange Policy

All exchange requests must be made within 30 days of delivery. Please message us to make a exchange request.  We will contact you within 2 business days of your request.

Any items returned to us must be in brand new condition.  Any items that has been worn, creased, dirty or damaged will be returned to you and no refund or exchange shall be given.

What Size Leash Should I Purchase for My Pet?

Leash width recommendations:

- 1/2” leash width if your dog is small or weighs less than 20 lbs

- 3/4” leash width if your dog fits is medium build or has a weight between 20-50 lbs.

- 1” width for large dogs weighing over 50 lbs or dogs that have a tendency to pull.

How do I clean and care for the leather products?

It’s best to use a soft cloth to remove any excess dirt and stains that get on the collar. If it gets really dirty you can use a non-toxic gentle cleaner, such as Leather Honey Cleaner to clean it.

If your pet goes swimming, be sure to rinse the salt water, chlorine or lake residue off of the collar directly after swimming. Using a leather cleaner and conditioner 2-3 times a year will restore the natural oils in the leather and bring back its shine and beauty.

We use and recommend Leather Honey Cleaner and Leather Honey Conditioner.

Customs and Import Taxes

International customers are responsible for all international fees and customs charges. Import duties, taxes and charges are not included in the item price or shipping charges. Customs policies vary from country to country. Please contact your local customs office.

Madison & Maude is not responsible for delays due to holds at customs.

How long will it take to receive my order?

Production times vary depending on the type of item you order. Your item will be placed in our work queue as soon as we receive your order.

We try and ship all orders within 14 business days or sooner. However, during peak periods there might be a delay. We will endeavour to ship your order at the earliest convenience. Once your order has shipped we will send an email confirmation with tracking so you can track your package!

If you order more than one item, your order will be held until all items are finished.


We offer a free shipping in the United States. All items are individually made-to-order and will ship from our shop within 3-15 business days. Your order will be shipped via the US Postal Service. Business days are Monday through Friday, we are closed on the weekend.

If we can ship your order sooner, we always will! We are a small team and work long days to get our orders shipped out as quickly as we can.

Once your order is shipped we will send an email confirmation with tracking so you can track your package!
