5 out of 5 starsI love everything about this necklace - the toggle closure, the mixed metals, and the lava stone. As with all of Maggie's work, she creates such interesting and unique pieces!

5 out of 5 starsI have been looking for a pair of earrings that would go with my brown tops, and these red agate earrings are perfect. I love that the silver is oxidized and that there the stones aren't just attached to straight sticks. The item more than met my expectations. Although I haven't had them long and I have a lot of earrings, I have already worn them three times.

Maggie Joynt holds a Bachelor of Arts in Jewelry and Metalsmithing from Illinois State University, where she graduated magna cum laude. She started her jewelry business after moving to the mountains of Western North Carolina. In 2006, she opened a studio and gallery space at the Riverwood Shops in Dillsboro, which she had for over six years. In 2013 she moved to the Sandhills region of North Carolina where she had a home-based studio for another six years. In early 2019, Maggie moved back to her home state of Iowa, and continues to run her studio from her home with Duke and Finley, her canine helpers.
"My designs feature geometric shapes inspired by forms from nature. I create jewelry using sterling silver, brass, copper, and my own hand cut gemstones. I use many traditional jewelry and metalsmithing techniques including lapidary, forging, riveting, soldering, and stone setting. The use of texture from hammering, stamping, and roll-printing lends an organic, earthy feeling to my work. I often use heat-form rivets as a connection, which act as hinges. These give my pieces a lot of movement, and also lends a subtle industrial aesthetic to my work. I finish my designs with a brushed patina, highlighting texture and enhancing contrast between the metals and stones."
