About

Handmade button jewellery from Ireland

Ever since playing happily with the contents of Granny's button box as a little girl, I've loved and collected all kinds of buttons. Over ten years ago now, I figured it was time to share some of them by making them into pretty little pieces of jewellery, and in 2009 I set up this little etsy shop. What began as an experiment is growing and growing 5 years later.

Some of the buttons I use in my pieces may be new, but more of them have already had a previous life on a jacket or dress from many years ago, and many come from fruitful rummagings in the button box I eventually inherited. I have reused the buttons from Irish military uniforms, wedding gowns, workshirts from the 1940s, and many dresses worn to dances in the 1960s and 1970s. Pretty cool!

In my other life, I teach art, eat cake, and dance swing.

Thank you for visiting the Magpie and Button shop.

All of the jewellery and any other items you'll find here are handmade by me in my little spare room studio. The vast majority of my pieces are one of a kind! Occasionally I will repeat a favourite piece at a customer's request, or perhaps two items/pairs of earrings may have subtle differences in colour or materials. All pieces are made in Ireland, though some interesting beads and buttons have come from other places.

I love to do custom orders, so please don't hesitate to ask if you have any requests!

You can be assured that your package of pretty things will be popped in the post between 1 and 3 days after payment, and it's often on the day! Your satisfaction is very important to me. I take great care in crafting these items, as well as photographing and describing each piece accurately. However I understand that sometimes things just aren't how you pictured them.

Upon receipt of your purchase, if you are dissatisfied in any way, please contact me at magpieandbutton [!at] gmail.com I will accept the return of your item, in original and unworn condition, and within 14 days, for exchange only. Additional policies and FAQs
Once your payment is received, your item will be shipped within 1 - 3 days.

It will be wrapped carefully, either in tissue paper and matching gift envelope, or in a pretty box where applicable, and will be posted to you in a padded mailer. Please let me know if your item is a gift, in which case I can leave the gift pack unsealed. This way you can have a sneak peek before gift giving, or add another treat to the package :)

I understand that feedback is optional but would very much appreciate you letting me know that your item has been received and that you are happy with your purchase.
