My dad buys and sells stamps, postcards, postmarks, things like that. When he bought huge lots of these things from auctions, he was simply throwing away the things that weren't valuable to him. The letters, the lives, the stories.

For me, the people behind the papers are the interesting bit.

Over time, I've collected a large amount of papers, rescuing them from the bin. People's memories. People's histories. Some of the letters are over 100 years old.

I decided that they deserved a new lease of life, beyond gathering dust in a cardboard box. And so, Magpies & Make Believe was born.

So, I hope you love this ephemera. I hope that, as you use it for junk journals, scrapbooks, or other craft projects, that you think about the people who wrote them, and the lives that were affected by them. I hope you daydream about the past, and let these people live on in your imagination.

I guess I'm just a weird girl who loves the smell of old paper and daydreams.
