A shop for the Aspiring Eccentric
Magpie's Masquerie started as a little gypsy wagon at the St. Louis Renaissance Faire in 2007. I was making masks in between classes in college and decorating my apartment with them. I started off with just masks, little mushroom finger puppets, a few parasols and a lot of determination. It wasn't until 2010, after I graduated with my MU Journalism Design degree that I decided I needed to do more, and that this is the kind of designing I wanted to do with my life.
Today we make dozens of products, but the masks still remain as one of the big draws at shows. We attend over 12 shows a year from one weekend events like sci-fi and fantasy conventions to 4 weekend long festivals. I have taken on an assistant and my boyfriend adds to the shop as well. We will continue to grow and create for the future of this once tiny gypsy's wagon.

Got into making costume accessories through the St. Louis Ren Faire and opened Magpie's Masquerie after friends insisted she could "sell all that stuff you make." The venture is growing and has found she needs a minion to assist in creation.

Kayla started helping make things in the shop in 2012. She stuffs plushies, makes some of the greenman masks and eye decor, and helps out at some of the local shows. She also is part owner of "Thieves Den Gaming" historical game making bis.
