Franklin W. Dixon was a house name used by publishing houses in the turn of the last century for male teen adventure/mystery stories. Mostly his name has been associated with "The Hardy Boys" though it was first used with the "Ted Scott Flying Stories". As boys could more readily identify with boy detectives than pilots the Hardy Boys started to out sell Ted Scott and the Dixon name became synonymous with teen mysteries.
