for the love of art and stories.

maiji*mond is the world of Maiji. It's a world built on my lifelong passion for practically anything related to communications. Within this broad category, I have particular soft spots for comics, book arts, print, paper, and watercolour. These are the things I love and hope to share with you!

When I was a teeny tiny squirrel, my parents ran a manga rental store. I was exposed to a huge array of stories from many different genres, and since then my brain has been wired to love words and pictures all jumbled together.

My work runs the gamut from dreamlike introspection to small fat animals. In much of my art and writing, you'll find inspirations from mythology and fairy tales, as well everyday human experiences.

A happy little squirrel - I mean, artist/writer - made in Taiwan and shipped (by air) to Canada. She gets really excited about art, comics, book arts, paper, miniature food, and making stuff. If you see her, please feed her.

Is it an almond? Is it a diamond? No! It's better - it's maiji*mond! maiji*mond is the world of Maiji! On Etsy, anyways. Here you can buy maiji-related things, as well as things made by Maiji. If this is confusing, we apologize.

Thanks for visiting maiji*mond, featuring the work of Maiji/Mary Huang! :D

Here you'll find art, comics, and other crafty things that are generally paper-related. My work ranges in nature/tone from abstract to serious to silly, with the last category often featuring "maijis" - fat round things that vaguely resemble funny Canadian squirrels (you can find more information about these mysterious creatures at

Green is good! Whenever possible I aim to use environmentally-friendly materials in my products and my packaging. These include:

* paper made with fibre sourced from responsibly-managed forests, and processed without the use of harmful elemental chlorine
* reclaimed or recycled papers (e.g. old stationery and prints)
* reused interior packaging (e.g. clear bags/protective sleeves)
