Thank you Jan for the lovely lithograph. I received my artwork before the scheduled time delivery . It was packaged very well, when I unwrapped it from the packing and looked at it I was amazed with the quality of the artwork. The eyes are so striking. I also noticed when viewing how you can see the many facets of depth and color that this lithograph has. The quality that has been incorporated in this piece has my eyes playing tricks on me. Sometimes when Viewing, it really looks like an oil painting and that's a testament of the artists talent and the currently displayed medium. I would buy from this dealer again. Marcello R

About

Art has always been a part of this brother/sister team . . .

Growing up in New York gave my brother and me a sense for the possibilities in art and music early in our lives. Our parents were both artists, and although they never pushed us to pursue art professionally, we grew to realize that being creative was just in our blood. We cherish memories of fun family “paint-outs” in beautiful settings when we were kids, but taking art seriously was what we were meant to do.

I now live in the beautiful Northwest with my husband, Rob, Daisy dog, and cats, Lulu and Dali.
My brother has stayed in vibrant New York City where he paints and writes.

When I decided to open this Etsy shop, Maitland Art Prints, I thought it would be professionally advantageous to have brother and sister team up to offer giclee prints of many of our original paintings. Even though we are on opposite coasts, and our styles are so different, it has been an enjoyable collaboration.
My paintings are mostly in the pastel medium, and Bob’s are mostly rendered in acrylics.

Jan's Inspiration:
I owe my style to a love for “Impressionism”. I find that period most fascinating, especially the use of broken and bright color. When I paint, I like to recall Monet’s magnificent use of color as well as his brilliant technique for demonstrating light with color. I think of Edgar Degas and Mary Cassatt for their masterful and prolific use of pastel painting. They are the inspiration that led me to the medium of pastel where I employ a stipple technique (small dots, small touches and spots) to my varied choice of subjects.

Robert's Inspiration:
My paintings are captured moments in my past as I paint from memory. The sense of the familiar landscape or face will come to me in an instant, and I find, I must paint it to have it last in time. I also enjoy a sense of humor with subjects such as “Day of the Dead” and experimentation with colorful portraits of skulls bringing those paintings to fruition. Living in New York, the opportunity to visit museums allows my inspiration to draw from wide interests from old master romantic painters, such as Francisco Goya, to the Ashcan School of modernists like George Bellows and John French Sloan, who depict early 20th century scenes of daily life in New York City. Film, literature, and even the classic Walt Disney animation films, such as Fantasia, bring color and drama to my mind’s eye for my work.

We are delighted to offer limited edition and small giclee prints of select original pastel, oil, acrylic, pen & ink, and glass paintings.
