About

Happily Making in Southwestern New Mexico

I have always loved learning new things, particularly related to making things. Especially when it comes to fiber arts, you name it and I've probably tried it at least once. I also love bookbinding. Recently, I discovered the SAORI philosophy of weaving, and it has ignited my passion for creating like nothing else I have ever done before. Weaving has become my meditation, my stress reliever, my joy, and my passion. So I am here selling the outcome of these fits of creativity.

My weaving is inspired by the SAORI philosophy--no rules, no mistakes, no pattern, just joyful weaving from the heart. It is weaving as art, as a way to express yourself and your emotions. It is like painting with colors on a canvas. It is also a process that encourages people to create what only a person can create, in all of its imperfect glory--we are not machines, so why try only to recreate what a machine can do? In my weaving, there are lots of loops, variations in textures and colors, and organic, wavy edges. I **love** texture and find myself incorporating lots of it into most things I do. Sometimes before I start weaving for the day, I just sit there and run my hands along the previous day's work, waiting for inspiration to strike. The result is usually more texture!

I hope you enjoy my work. More importantly, I hope it can inspire you to create more, too. In putting our heart and soul into making a thing, we not only create it, we also continually create ourselves, too.

I have been a fiber arts addict most of my life, since I taught myself to knit at the age of 11. My other love is bookbinding. Recently, my neighbor called me a maker, and The Makery was born. I now spend my days Making in southwestern New Mexico.
