These natural colors look alive, and I feel they have harmonizing and healing properties as well. Wood chips, nut hulls, flowers, and plants are my dye materials of choice. They can often be reused, and they make good mulch when I'm done. I think that each plant or tree has its own individual colors to share. I work in small batches and often let the dyes speak to me--blending dyes and over-dyeing to create unique, one-of-a-kind colors and colorways. I photograph items out of doors in natural light and do my best to represent colors accurately. Thanks for taking the time to look at my stuff!!

5 out of 5 starsTiny baby in in oystershell
is wrapped and placed under our Christmas tree. There will
be great thrill to open her gift and have her enter into creative play with this little
one. She loves baby dolls so much. She has lots of fun to look forward to! -

5 out of 5 starsDespite that I haven’t sewn in years, this pattern, with easy to follow instructions, yielded a lovely dragon for Michaelmas this year. My kids loved it. Thank you!

I love dyeing up fibers. Here are silk and Merino wool that were later carded into batts for spinning and felting.
Journal of a Plant Dye Goddess in Training...
What can I say--I love color, and I love nature. Plant dyes are where the two seem to cross for me. I've been working with plant dyes for over 20 years now, and I never tire of them. The colors are unique and vibrant, and they come from renewable resources. My work as a Waldorf Handwork teacher gave me the opportunity to hone these skills and learn new techniques over many years. When I stepped away from teaching full-time, several folks said, "Well, you're going to open a plant dye business now, right?" The rest is history.
Shop policies
Plant dyes provide rich, vibrant colors that come directly from nature. Like natural fibers (such as wool, cotton, silk, or linen), they are a sustainable, renewable resource. Many of these colors last a long time. (Think of some of the tapestries you might see in a museum.) Over the years, some of these colors may gently mellow. I feel that these shades are equally beautiful. Please keep in mind that any item, even commercially dyed items like T-shirts, will fade from continued exposure to direct sunlight.
Plant dyed items last best with a bit of special care. In the case of dolls, hats, and other toys, I suggest surface washing when necessary. Silk scarves or items knitted, crocheted or woven from plant dyed yarns can be washed separately by hand. Cold water is best. I use a mild dish soap or mild detergent to wash my own items and avoid soaps with enzymes. Sometimes soaps with enzymes can alter the ph of a plant dyed item and change the color.
All my supplies--yarns, felt, silks, etc--are thoroughly rinsed after the dying process, and I usually use Ecover fabric softener to smooth down the fibers on plant dyed yarns. I hope you enjoy the colors. Please feel free to contact me if you have questions or comments.

I love shipping with the United States Postal Service. So far, the USPS has served me well, and I am grateful. International buyers should be aware that shipping can take longer. Most International shipping has been great for me (about a week to Europe), but I do know that it takes 6 weeks for items to arrive at their destination in South Africa, and I once had a package go to France instead of Italy (and it said ITALY all over the box--go figure!)
If you live in the United States and would like to upgrade to Priority Mail, you can do so for additional cost--actual cost of shipping. Orders over $85 will be upgraded to priority automatically. You can convo me or add a message to seller thorugh Etsy or Paypal and I will ship Priority Mail same day or next day if possible. Please convo with questions.
