But by the way, do you know Mamazita's work process?

Its recently refurbished workshop houses a sewing workshop and a screen printing workshop. Based in Ste Adèle in the Laurentians (QC), Mamazita produces her own confections. The fabrics used are as much as possible recycled fabrics. Its sources are diverse: leftovers from designers, dressmakers, decorators, end of life of clothes, home decoration, ect ... Mamazita pays particular attention to reuse until the smallest scrap and in the opposite case buys as much as possible. local. Did you know that she produces her own labels from very small scraps of fabric and does her own screen printing? To discover its products visit its online store!

Mamazita is above all a family story: a desire to reconnect with nature for the founder, a graduate of the School of Fine Arts in screen printing, Marion Carassou-Maillan. While she was expecting her second child, this young mother began to think about how her family could reduce their waste and consume in a more eco-responsible way. "Every day, I racked my brains to find new solutions .."
Bursting with energy, Marion then goes back to sewing, which she had abandoned twelve years earlier, and begins by making handkerchiefs for her family. Without knowing it yet, she has just given birth to the “Mamazita“ project. Because, one thing leading to another, a concept takes shape. Marion realizes that recycling, especially fabric, offers endless possibilities. The Québécoise rushes headlong. After handkerchiefs, she made her first bulk bags and founded Mamazita. Very quickly, the creations are available in several forms. Then come the grocery bags, then the bread bags, baguette bags ... Today, the Saint-Adèle garage has been transformed into a workshop where fabrics (in natural fiber) and tools are stored. And where nothing is lost. “We even make the labels of all our products with fabric scraps,” says the young entrepreneur.
In less than two years, Mamazita has already come a long way and developed a whole range of practical and aesthetic objects for a zero waste daily life and to color the days: dish wipes, cases for reusable straws, for brushes with teeth, all in very colorful tones. “This project, I want it bright, sparkling, joyful,” says Marion, who works like craftsmen: by hand and in small quantities. "We create, we manufacture, we test, while continuing to embed ourselves a little more every day in our eco-responsibility".

• We like to recut old clothes. Our creations are made from reused materials: fabric scraps, end-of-series recovery, ... and pieces of all sizes are used.
• All recyclable materials, if they are not reused first, are recycled. We like to reuse, cut, repair, mend before recycling.
• All the fabrics we use are made from plant and natural fibers.
• We try to find all our resources as close as possible to home in the Laurentians in Quebec. All our confections are produced in our workshop.
• All products used at Mamazita, if applicable, are biodegradable and come from Quebec.
