About MandaCrafts

On Etsy since 2008

Welcome to MandaCrafts! For hand dyed fibres and support spindles (when I can get hold of the whorls).

I've been handspinning for over thirty years now, and dyeing almost as long!
I've been known to dye, wool (tops or fleece), silk (brick, caps and hankies) and Soybean tops, all in semi-solid or space dyed colours. The wool tops I'm using at the moment are Ile de France top which is slightly crisp and very bouncy. I also dye sparkly Trilobal nylon, and blending nylon which is ideal for adding to sock blends. If you don't see what you are looking for in the shop it is always worth sending me a message, as I very often have stock that isn't listed yet.

The space-dyed and semi-solid colours are dyed using a fairly random technique, therefore I'm afraid that the colours are not repeatable from one batch to the next (colours dyed in the same batch, although not always identical from one bag to the next, will always work together). If you have a particular project in mind when buying the tops, please buy enough to finish your project in one go!

Happy Browsing!

Amanda

P.S. I do accept personal cheques from UK buyers! Please send an email or convo to arrange this option.

  • Amanda

    Owner, Chief Dyer, Spindle Tester

Hello, I've been a handspinner and dyer for over 35 years now, and have been dyeing all sorts of fibres for the enjoyment of others for around 20 years. I get the job of testing all the spindles for balance too.

  • Ginge

Photographer, Assistant Dyer, Spindle And Wristaff Maker

This is my DH, he takes all the product photographs and helps out with the dyeing too. He is in charge of dyeing the semi-solids on the hob in the kitchen. He also makes the little support spindles and creates the hand made braid for the wristaffs.

Production partners

  • Chamtsee

    Tibet, China

I have visited Chamtsee workshop in Tibet to teach them textile skills. These bags are just a few of the wonderful items they are now making. I'm very proud to be able to offer, these last few in my possession, in my Etsy shop. These will be shipped directly from me and will only ship to the UK.

I post First Class to the UK and Airmail to the rest of the world. Wherever possible I post out within two working days from the date of the order. However, we only have a Post Office in the village two mornings a week, so depending on the day you order it can occasionally be three days before we get to a P.O.
