Manka's sunny little studio space.
Whimsical creations made in Falls Church, VA
Manka is a tiny one-girl studio based in a mod 50s house in the woods near Falls Church, VA where Zara Gonzalez Hoang translates her daydreams into drawings and then into whimsical paper prints and cards.
She named the studio "Manka" which means "Little Rascal" because it seemed like an appropriate moniker for a girl who is constantly drawing imps, faeries and benevolent monsters.
A sometimes printmaker, compulsive doodler and avid daydreamer Zara's paper goods focus on whimsy and wonder with the occasional bit of strangeness thrown in when the mood suits. For Zara, the best part of having her own little shop is being able to experiment and let her imagination run wild.
Someday, Zara hopes to branch out beyond paper products to children's clothing or other textiles, but for now she's enjoying playing with all sorts of paper products in her sunny little studio.
