Have I mentioned how much I love acorns? These little packets of fun are everywhere on the ground this time of year. I just know there's an amazing craft out there, just waiting to be imagined into existence with the help of some twine.

About

All About Marcella Taylor Design

Marcella Taylor Design is quite literally a one-woman show. From the photography to the jewelry making, from the late-night tears to the jumps for joy, from the instagramming to the shipping: I do it all!
I have always been fascinated with polymer clay sculpting and molding. My mother took me to Thailand as a little girl, and she always picked up small charms or dolls made of glossy polymer clay from the markets we frequented. I always enjoyed the smooth and seamless way it can be formed into endless shapes and textures.
My entire life I thought I would be working in an office or pursuing a career in the medical field. When my husband was accepted into medical school, I put my pursuits on hold. It was difficult for me to not be working with my hands. I tried learning guitar, I sewed a ridiculous amount of pillow cases and dresses, knitting was attempted, I picked up coding and Adobe Illustrator, and even tried to start a YouTube channel. On a whim I picked up some polymer clay at the store and suddenly the creativity faucet turned on. I had so many ideas for designs and jewelry that I wanted to wear. It was amazing being able to dream up a pair of earrings and then translate it into something wearable.
I spend my day with my kids. Orders are made at night. If an order comes in, my son leaps in delight and yells "someone bought your earrings!" and he cheers me on. Orders are always made late into the night, after the kids have finally fallen asleep. I have loved every moment of my little shop. The local craft markets and influencers I have met along the way have made it all so fun. I am grateful for every purchase as it allows me to send you a tiny piece of my heart.

I graduated from the University of Utah with a BA in English. I worked primarily in Human Resources and Restaurant Management while pursuing dental school. To support my husband during med school, I paused my schooling and opened up shop. I love it!

Frequently asked questions
Is your jewelry hypoallergenic?

My jewelry is made of one of the following materials: brass, stainless steel, or sterling silver. Most people do not experience sensitivity to these metals but please feel free to ask if you have questions about a particular material. For stainless steel earring posts, you have the option to select surgical stainless steel at checkout.

How long does it take to make my order?

Each order is made to order. Depending on the item, it may take 4-6 days to complete. For resin jewelry, it typically takes 2-3 days to set. For clay jewelry, it typically takes 1-2 days to set. Please be patient when you order but feel free to check in on the status. When making the earrings I always wait at least 24 hours before shipping so that the post bond is completely set.

Care instructions

Due to the handmade nature of my jewelry, make sure you adhere to the following guidelines to ensure extended use of your product:

Avoid water activities when wearing earrings. Earrings may be wiped with a soft, damp cloth if needed for cleaning.

Avoid sleeping in earrings to maintain product integrity. Extended use may weaken earring post bond.

Avoid contact with perfumes, chemicals, or makeup.

KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN. SMALL PARTS MAY POSE CHOKING HAZARD.

What is polymer clay?

Polymer clay is a flexible form of PVC and hardens when baked. Polymer clay is a lightweight, affordable option for jewelry but renders beautiful customized results when mixed and molded. I condition my polymer clay before use until it is pliable enough for creating jewelry. Once my jewelry is cut or molded from the clay, I bake the pieces up to an hour. Clay pieces are then sanded and polished with a rotary tool.

When will my order ship?

Each order is handmade and requires 3-7 days to make. Depending on how many orders are ahead of yours as well as the type of jewelry and amount you ordered will determine the timeline for processing.

My address was wrong. Can you ship it back to me?

Absolutely. However, you will be required to pay for shipping again if an order is returned to me because of an incorrect address. Please double-check your address when initially placing an order to avoid shipping issues.

I don't have my ears pierced. Are clip-ons an option?

I offer invisible clip-on earrings for buyers who don't have pierced ears. They are lightweight, hypoallergenic and easily concealed. Please message me before purchasing if you would like this option.

My jewelry arrived damaged. How can you help?

If you receive a damaged product, please message me directly with a picture of the product as well as the packaging. When I determine what the issue with the product is, I will work with you to replace the damaged item or issue a refund.
