About

Always Trying New Things

Each year I like to try new materials and new techniques. In 2014 I added silver and gold filled wire to my pieces. I also tried chain anklets, different ring designs and chain necklaces that had beads dangling from them. 2015 I added birthstone rings and earrings, niobium earrings for people with metal allergies and brought back pendants which I had done in 2013. I used Vermont jasper stones for some of the pendants. I was able to buy a large Vermont rough jasper rock from a Vermont Gem and Jewelry store. My husband cut the rock into several slabs for me and then I shaped them to the size I wanted. After that process I used 4 different sand grits to smooth the pieces down and then put them in my rock tumbler to polish. The idea of using VT stones started in 2014 when a women came to my booth and wanted a piece of jewelry that would remind her of her trip. 2015 I started to make small tree of life gemstone wall hangings and some necklace sets. In 2016 I added window hangings and am working on more technical, time consuming wire weaving and wrapping. 2017 I changed my display, again, to add more window hangings. My focus will mainly be on the window hangings. Instead of offering a wide variety of jewelry, I'm concentrating on birthstone earrings, certain earrings, sets, bracelets and rings.

I am very conscientious about keeping my hands clean while I'm working. If one of my poodle mixes wants a belly rub in the middle of creating a piece, I'll wash my hands before going back to work. Same goes with anything else I touch. Also, if you buy jewelry from me, it comes from a smoke-free home.

I became a self taught jeweler after becoming frustrated when jewelry I bought fell apart, or prices were outrageous. At first I made jewelry for myself. That evolved into selling at craft fairs and then opening my own small business.
