Thank you for browsing Marion Gunderson Art. If you have questions please contact me. I’ll be happy to get back to you and also work with you to fulfill your requests.

My name is Louise Shimon. The artist is my mother, Marion Gunderson. She is now deceased but painted watercolors from as early as 1933 and as recently as 2000. Profits from prints sold in her/my home community of Rolfe, Iowa, go directly to the Rolfe Public Library where she was a librarian for thirty-five years. She was…Marion the Librarian. Profits from prints sold on Etsy will help cover the fundraiser printing expenses which otherwise would be incurred by me.

The fundraiser profits will be used to convert approximately 100 audio cassette oral histories to digital format. The oral histories were recorded in 1981 when approximately ninety members of the Rolfe community were interviewed. This 1981 oral history project was spearheaded by my mother.

A short bio, including a photo of Marion, accompanies each print.

You may read more about my mother and her work by going to If any of her other work (that isn’t already posted on Etsy) interests you, please contact me and I will offer it on Etsy.

Accepted payment methods

Returns and exchanges
Because of how they are packaged, prints should not become damaged in transit. Of course, "should" doesn't guarantee packages aren't abused in transit. If an item arrives in damaged condition, please let me know within three days of its arrival. It may be that I ask you to take a photo of the damage and email it to me before we discuss the next step in assuring that you are a satisfied customer. If it does arrive damaged, do not remove the shrink wrap (if it is shipped shrink wrapped). Also, if it arrives damaged, please do not destroy the packaging.

Because of the fundraiser nature of these prints, I prefer to not have prints returned due to buyer's remorse. However, if you have a need to return and/or exchange a print(s), please communicate that to me within two weeks of receipt to see what is mutually agreeable. It is understandable that colors/images on monitors can look different than the colors/images you see when you have the print in your home/workplace/etc. Most likely I will not offer to refund if I receive your request after two weeks of receipt. (However, if two weeks has passed and you want to return even after the two weeks, communicate with me and I'll look at each situation individually.) If, when purchasing, you know your purchase is for Christmas or other gift-giving several weeks into the future, it would be in your favor to let me know that at the time of purchase. If you do let me know that at the time of your purchase, or before, and then would like an email from me stating that you may return it beyond the two-week period, I will send you an email stating such.
I accept payment through PayPal, which is a secure third party processor accepting all major credit cards. It is NOT necessary to have a PayPal account to pay through their service.

To pay by credit card, click the “Pay with PayPal” button after checkout and use the “Don’t have a PayPal account?” option located toward the left of the “Log in to PayPal” box.

Per Etsy policy, payments should be received within 3 days of purchase. Orders are processed after payment is received.

If you have any questions or need help regarding PayPal purchases, please visit the following website:

6% sales tax will be added for all Iowa sales.

If you live locally to central or Northwest Iowa and shipping would not be necessary, and you would like to write a check directly to the Rolfe Public Library Trust, please convo me via Etsy and we'll make arrangements to accomplish that.
I ship via USPS Priority Mail from Perry, Iowa, within one to three business days (typically one) of payment. The shipping cost includes delivery confirmation.

If you have a request for express shipping, international shipping, insurance or other shipping aspect, please let me know and I’ll work with you to add the corresponding shipping charges to your order.

I carefully handle the prints, which are meticulously packaged for safe delivery.

Packaging may vary with each individual listing. Be sure to CHECK THE INDIVIDUAL LISTING to read how that particular item will be packaged (i.e., flat or loose) for shipping.

Typically, a print on foam board which does not exceed the dimensions of 17" x 21" will be shipped in a Kraft Stay Flat "heavy board" sturdy envelope-type mailer. Larger prints will be shipped loose in a round tube or long squared box. PRINTS ORDERED TOGETHER will be shipped in the smallest size box that will accommodate both/all prints. This means that even if a smaller print is listed as being on foam board, if it is ordered with a larger print that doesn't fit in the flat "heavy board" mailer, it will be shipped loose. If you wish to order a combination of a large print(s) with a smaller print(s) but wish to still have the smaller prints shipped flat on foam board, please make two separate purchases (which means two shipping charges and two invoices). In that case, you would receive one flat package for the flat print(s) and one tubular package for the loose/rolled print(s).
Additional policies and FAQs
All images are copyright protected and may not be used for unauthorized reproduction without my written permission, even after purchase.

The prints are unmatted.

Please note that due to differences in monitor settings, actual colors may slightly vary from those shown on your monitor. You might notice slight color differences upon print receipt. This is considered normal and not a printing defect. If you have any particular color concerns feel free to contact me previous to purchasing.

Larger quantities of prints may be purchased. I live 100 miles from the gallery (which is in my home community) where the prints are printed, wrapped, etc. I typically get to the gallery twice a month and pick prints up at those times. Since I have only enough prints printed to stay slightly ahead of orders, where I am in this travel cycle is the main determinant of when I have more prints available to ship.
