As a child I was fortunate enough to have parents that enjoyed art, and encouraged artistic expression. I took many art lessons with my favorite being oil painting. However, it wasn't until 40 years later that I developed my interest in mosaic art.
My husband and I had begun a small fabrication business making metal bases for classroom mosaic art projects. As a way to advertise our products I began to make up sample pieces, which eventually led me into "shard art", where for me, oil painting meets broken china.
I am no longer in the metal fabrication business, but have continued to grow and enjoy mosaics. My favorite materials are glass tile, old china, pottery and found objects. Use of primary colors, pastels, florals, and great patterns and textures make my one-of-a-kind pieces a labor of love, to be enjoyed for years to come.
