Handmade porcelain tiles since 2003!
No non-North America shipping at this time. Sorry!
Celebrating 20 years of my ceramic dog art (before that I worked with Friendly Plastic)! I am offering nearly every design I have made in the past 20 years for a limited time with FREE SHIPPING! I create each and every piece by hand from my own designs (the flying animals) or molds I made myself from 40 years of collecting small items (toys, prizes, etc). I only use top quality, EXPENSIVE, US- Made Stainless Steel pin backs because my work is worth it!
I am not a drop shipper, I am a real artist! I must work with my own daily chores, physical and mental health, the weather, pets, hip arthritis, a whole bunch of stuff. You will get your order- just not within a couple of days like amazon. This is the way it is with real artists.
Yes! I will make your breed/mix. Just order via any design and put what you would like in the box provided. Send me pics via etsy messenger.
Porcelain by artist Mary Dixon of Ann Arbor, Michigan, since 1992. High fired so they are good inside and outside, in showers, around fireplaces, anywhere! Free Shipping on all orders! Please allow up to 3 weeks for special orders. Sometimes it takes a little longer depending on situations such as electric outages during storms or high heat (can't fire the kiln if it is too hot, no air conditioning in this house).

5 out of 5 starsThis is my second time buying from this charming and talented Etsy artist. I adore my new pin which looks so much like my border collie Perk. Now I can 'take him with me' wherever I go. Thank you for working with me to personalize my piece!

Mary D's story
My ceramic and dog worlds are very interwoven!
In 1992, I started making animal pins of my own design, after being inspired by local cat jewelry artist Nancy Diamond.
I sold my cat designs at our Humane Society's holiday store, where I worked (I also worked in the shelter). Not long after, I added wild animals and dog breeds and then sold at dog shows for many years.
At the same time I ran my state's Australian Cattle Dog Rescue (1990-2004) and began showing in ACDs and Border Terriers.
In 2000, I learned how to make clay bas relief tiles from Frank Giorgini and Karim Motawi. I switched to porcelain not long after that.
In the mid-2000's I introduced the Wirehaired Portuguese Podengo Medio (and in 2012, the Kromfohrlander) to the AKC world.
My porcelain art works have shipped all over the world and are owned by some well known folks like Kat von D and Jill Wine Banks!

Shop policies
In 1992 I originally made my animal jewelry from Friendly Plastic in my kitchen and those pieces became famous in the dog show world! But I always dreamed of making them of ceramic and in 2001, I traded the cheap, fragile Friendly Plastic for porcelain.
I also use a high fired stoneware clay that is made in Michigan and used by many of my fellow Michigan tile artisans (MI and CA were the foundation states for modern artisan tiles).
In 1999, I started to teach myself how to make tiles with some supplemental advice from tile artisan and author Frank Giorgini and Motawi tileworks co-owner Karim Motawi. Two years later I was making my jewelry from porcelain clay. I am, at my core, an illustrator and this is reflected in my clay work. However, my specialty is whimsical style, because if the dog world needs something, it's humor.
My porcelain jewelry has been advertised in the magazines Dog Fancy, The Bark and trade magazine Pet Age and earned the elusive Pet Age Magazine Pinnacle Award winner in the gift category.
I have over 20 years retail and buyer experience from some of the most legendary businesses in my town of Ann Arbor (Middle Earth, Sam's Store, Blue Front, Zingerman's).
I have developed my own personal style of retail philosophy that includes elements from all of my experiences at these places. I keep in touch with customers readily and sometimes even let them into my world.
I put a lot of time, energy and love into my work and know you will appreciate the attention to detail and high quality of my original designs.

Additional policies and FAQs
I make my work myself and provide excellent customer service to you.
If you need to tell me what you think of your purchase, I encourage you to use the message system instead of relying on the feedback/review system.
Wholesale customers must provide documentation of their business (NOT an ebay or flea market business) and must not undercut my own prices. In addition, it is common etsy courtesy to give credit where credit is due when using one seller's handmade products in a repurposed product.
PRIVACY POLICY:
I do not collect or use your information, though I do have access to what you have included in your etsy.com order and in undeleted messages. I do not share any customer information with anyone, anywhere (only photos of your work you have made with my tiles, with your permission).
