A collection of tools for finishing pieces on my worktable.
I have loved making pottery since I threw my first pot on a kick wheel in high school. I received a degree in fine arts from Chadron State College in Western Nebraska and I set up my own pottery studio shortly after college. I strive to create pottery that is both beautiful and a work of art, but also holds a place of usefulness in everyday life. I have pottery all over my house, holding kitchen utensils and paintbrushes, on the shelves in the living room and in the kitchen cupboards.
I make most of my pottery on the wheel, and do some hand built pieces on occasion. I pay special attention to the surfaces of my pots; I do a lot of intricate (and time consuming!) hand carving, and I also do a lot of slip trailing. I love the sense of movement and tactile feel these elements give to the pots. I am so glad you’ve visited my shop and read a little bit about my work.
