Handmade Pennsylvania Wooden Treasures

When my wife and I welcomed our daughter into the world in 2014, we decided it was time to forge our own path and begin to share with others some of the handmade wooden items I have been making for family and friends over the years.

I come from a family of traditional artisans: blacksmiths, master craftsmen and women, fine artists. Woodworking is in my blood and is one of my favorite ways to express myself. I have been working with wood since I was a kid in my father's wood shop. I am passionate about my craft and hope that you enjoy my pieces as much as I enjoy making them. My wood shop is located at our homestead where we raise chickens, bees, a large garden and our beautiful baby girl. It's one of my favorite places to be. I enjoy working with local Pennsylvania woods, so most of our pieces come from wood I source from trees that I cut, cure and finish myself. It's a labor of love! We know where the wood grows, dies and is ultimately reborn --> once it ends up in my wood shop. So you can feel good about what you're buying from start to finish.

Thanks so much for your support and interest. We love what we do and it is thanks to our wonderful customers that we are able to continue the journey.

Welcome to Matlack Woodworking LLC, a small family business (man & wife!) running out of a small wood studio in our Pennsylvania country home.

We specialize in handmade, locally sourced {Pennsylvania} wooden wares. Most of our wood comes from local woods, shops and backyards - being salvaged or reclaimed after storms, renovations, closings and the like. We love a challenge and find inspiration in our surroundings and local culture.

Additional policies and FAQs
Many of our pieces have visible irregularities or imperfections which are intentionally included as part of the piece. Please be aware that this is what makes each item unique and special. Be sure to pay close attention to photo details or message seller with any questions or concerns.

In order to care of your special new items do not soak in water and clean gently with damp cloth. Some items may require regular coats of olive oil (or any food safe oil finish) to maintain wood integrity (i.e., chopsticks, certain bowls finished with beeswax-based finish). Please contact seller with any questions related to proper care of your piece.
