Announcement   I design and build all of my furniture in my backyard workshop in New Orleans. All of my pieces are made from reclaimed material personally salvaged from 100+ year old new orleans homes left to rot or torn down. I collect and store all of my material from massive wide plank boards to old bead board to cypress windows and moldings to pieces of wrought iron railing from the french quarter and around town. My pieces have a simple strait forward design. The old heart pine or cypress framing material, along with the patina of layers of old paint are what really enhance the furniture and bring a unique look to the piece. As my business grows orders may take up to 5 to 6 weeks from order to shipping please inquire about time frames. These are one of a kind custom pieces individually built by hand, sorry for the timeframe but that is part of custom furniture. For more of my portfolio and ideas for custom made pieces I can build for you check out: www.flickr.com/matthewholdren

I can't even begin to tell you how thrilled I am! You know I've wanted one of these for years, I am so, so, so thrilled with this. Husband loves it too, which is rare for him with furniture. It makes the room! We're moving the smaller one over next to it, they are going to be the anchor of the entire room. Even better than expected and hoped for and that is saying a lot. I hope to see you again, your work and your eye are exceptional. Thank you so very much!

My furniture is all one of a kind. Each piece of wood that goes into one of my creations has its own bit of character- nails, old dents, distress, old bandsaw marks. The old lead paint with its one of a kind beautiful multi colorful patina, is sealed to protect it and your family. The pieces do contain lead but have been sealed with 3 coats of polycrylic
I believe in my city and saving as much of the treasured homes here and reusing them to create my furniture. I deconstruct homes slated for demolition by the city, I climb through dumpsters and barter with contractors and homeowners for material building furniture for them. From start to finish I salvage and build your piece of furniture and believe in a local community based system full of barter , sharing ideas and creating with our own hands as much as is humanly possible. Etsy is a great way to connect like minded folks and support a handmade local self sustaining way of life without corporate, government and commercial influence.
