Announcement   Hello, and welcome to SPARE PARTS, the place to find high quality buckles, zippers and components for making bags.

These are the same parts I use for my own range of handmade bags (www.mattt.com.au) so you can be assured that they are the best available (as I offer a lifetime guarantee on all the bags I make).

As I often get approached by other makers for advice about where to find small quantities of high quality (and often quite specialised) components, I've set SPARE PARTS up as a way to source those often hard to find parts for your latest ideas or special projects.

I predominantly source my components from Duraflex (buckles and clips) and YKK (zippers and some plastic parts) along with a small number of stainless steel clips etc.

Of course if you'd like to purchase larger quantities of anything you can see just let me know and I'll see what I can do : )

Thanks for stopping by, Matt Thomson

NB • Even though I did register the profile mattt quite a number of years ago, I've only recently started using it, please feel free to make any suggestions on ways you think I can improve things.

About

Why I started SPARE PARTS

About twelve years ago I decided to teach myself to sew so I could make myself a bag for weekend motorscooter trips with mates (it's a really lovely charcoal 1977 Vespa Rally 200 if you must know).

I'm pretty sure subsequent study in Engineering and Industrial Design has led me to be quite particular about the processes, fabrics and compoents I use (both in terms of sustainability and function) and finding new ways to improve them.

Over the years I've often been approached by other makers for advice about where to find small quantities of the components I use myself so I've set SPARE PARTS up as a way for others to source those often hard to find parts.

Therefore these are the same parts I use for my own range of handmade bags (www.mattt.com.au) so you can be assured that they are the best available (I'm so confident that I offer a lifetime guarantee on all the bags I make).

Happy making!

I love to design, make, tinker and come up with new ways to combine craft and technology. I also really appreciate that I spend my time at work thinking, refining and creating; particularly as I get to listen to music while I do .....

I am an designer and maker based in Melbourne, Australia.

I create functional handmade bags (and other products) and these are components that I have sourced (and use) in my own range of products so you can be assured they are the best available.

This means whilst they may not be the cheapest components you'll find, they are certainly the best; well made, durable and will add a professional touch to your own designs.

I also don't sell anything that I wouldn't be happy to use myself.

Please feel free to contact me should you have any questions at all.

Payment
I prefer payment by credit card into my bank account.

If you're local (Australia) you're more than welcome to pay by Direct Deposit, Cheque or in person if you'd like to drop into my studio in Melbourne.

It would be great to receive payment within a week, if I don't I'll contact you to check you'd still like the item.

Of course please contact me if you've any questions or like any clarification.
Shipping
I ship all orders by Australia Post as I've found this to be the most reliable and cost effective.

All orders are posted in a sturdy cardboard box (often one I've recycled) so that your order will reach you in exactly the same way that it leaves the studio.

If you require your order in a hurry I'll always do my best to accommodate these requests (I can often get items out the same day if ordered in the morning).

Once again if you've any questions please don't hesitate to contact me.
Refunds and Exchanges
I'm very much about making sure that you are more than completely happy with your new product.

I've further details about this on my website at
