Maxies Knitwear started as an outlet for my knitting passion. I learnt to knit from my mother, who knitted beautiful jumpers and cardigans for us and for those she loved. She also taught me (and my 2 brothers) how to knit when we were little.

My knitting style is simple and I love to try different textures to create an item. My favourite items to knit are scarves and there's nothing quite like a soft, warm hand knit scarf to wear on a cold winter's day!

Usually when knitting an item, my mind is already planning the next piece to knit. So every now and then I need to have a 'completion day', where the majority of the day is finishing off all those pieces that have been put aside while I move onto my next creation. These are the days where bows or flowers are created, or when my large pile of buttons is scattered across the floor while I hunt down the exact button for each piece. For me it's such a fun day, with a sense of satisfaction to see the items completed and ready to be photographed.

Building my Etsy shop has taught me many skills over the years, but I know there is still a lot for me to learn! It's been such a delight for me to have my lovingly knitted items sent to other parts of the world to be worn.
