I have a pet rock.

I actually have the rather run-of-the-mill story of stay-at-home mom dabbling in making jewelry, sat out in bliss watching her children grow up. But, yes, I do have a pet rock. His name is Eugene.

Eugene sits by the lamp on my worktable in Singapore. There are days when he struggles to stifle a yawn, when I get stuck on an idea, or I get too busy with the real Maya and Ruhi.

Maya and Ruhi are my daughters. They drive me crazy sometimes, but they do complete my life. Maya is a chilled-out, happy soul; Ruhi is an over-imaginative drama queen.

So MAYA & RUHI keeps me sane. When the going gets tough, I seek solace in my box-room, with my stacks of Vogue, artist biographies and jewelry history books, my mind-boggling stash of beads and wires, and my faithful Eugene.
