Announcement    COVID-19 UPDATE (April 27):

I want to extend my love and solidarity during these trying times and I wish you, your family, your comrades, and your friends good health as we all weather this storm. Due to the pandemic, non-essential business in NYC is currently suspended and, as a result, I do not have access to the facility I use to cast new pieces — just one part of the process, but a crucial one.

I am still accepting new orders and, as an independent artist, I cannot express the depth of my gratitude for your support and solidarity during these times. If your order is among the selection of already casted pieces I have in my limited inventory, I can finish it without delay. However, if your order will require a new casting, there will be an indefinite delay, until my equipment access is restored. I wish that I could be more precise but the public health crisis and the continued need for social distancing and suspension of non-essential services in NYC is still paramount, so I cannot provide a timetable. As always, feel free to contact me ahead of time to see if your order would be in inventory.

If you still choose to place an order, I truly appreciate your material support. Due to the indefinite nature of the delay, I will be providing 10% discounts on future orders. In addition, I have many new designs nearly ready for release. They will soon be available for discounted pre-orders, so keep an eye out for those!

In solidarity,
Ida

About MaydayByIda

Sales 279
On Etsy since 2017

Radical jewelry by NYC metalsmith and communist activist Ida Maydae. Commissions always welcome, unless you killed Rosa Luxemburg. #commiechic

Mayday by Ida is a completely worker-owned cooperative, entirely operated by two committed transgender communist artist/activists, in Brooklyn, NY. All the jewelry is designed, hand-fabricated, hand-modeled, and hand-finished by jewelry designer Ida Maydae.

If you are part of an organization that would like to collaborate on a piece as a way to raise funds for political work, please contact us! We want to pay our bills, but we also want our art to play a part in movement-building, both culturally and materially.

We try to keep our wearable art as affordable as possible, since we are keenly aware that most of our comrades are struggling to pay the rent. However, nothing is ever too good for the working class.

We often run sales, though we ask comrades who can afford to forgo sale prices to do so, since it allows us to subsidize discounted prices for those who otherwise could not afford to buy our jewelry.

The worker must have bread, but they must have roses, too!
