Thanksgiving SALE 2018...15% off purchases of $30+ AND free shipping! Ends 11.27.18 Grateful gear for the grateful family, with a repurposed twist!

Thank you for taking the time to stop by my Etsy and for reading my Story.

Firstly, I'd like to clarify my Story Headline. You'll notice it says "with a repurposed twist". I really enjoy giving clothes a new chapter to their lives. I do this by tiedying, or sewing, or breaking down and putting back together. This happens to most of the items offered in my Etsy.
HOWEVER, there are some items that are brand new as well! I want the customer to add their own chapters to the clothing they purchase.
Either way, I clearly state whether the item is 'repurpsed' or 'new' in their listings so as to avoid possible confusion.

Now that that's done, I can share my story a bit:

I'm currently a part time farmer, but a full time mom. You can read an article I wrote with a similar title here:

I've had my hours cut on the farm, which means now I have more time to sew! It's been glorious, but hard at the same time. Going from a guaranteed income to one that can be hit or miss has been hard on our family of four. Everything happens for a reason, so right now I'm taking it one day at a time.

Enough about the sad and sappy, how about a little May's Playce history!

I opened my Etsy in July 2006. I had been tiedying and creating with hemp for some time before this, but didn't really have a steady outlet for my work. When I discovered Etsy, I thought that it would be perfect because up until this point, I had only vended a handful of times.

That was 10 years ago. WOW!

In this time, I've opened and closed my store multiple times due to happenings in life.
In no particular order: I traveled cross country. I was homeless but happy. I received my Undergrad Degree. I went on tour. I had no access to internet (I only just started using a smart phone in 2015, lol). And other lifey reasons.
Also during this time, however, I've had the chance to vend more. I've done craft shows and music festivals, holiday fairs and farmers markets.
Now, 10 years later from initial inception, I actively vend and sell here in my Etsy.

Being the mom of a toddler has its challenges for both of these areas, but I do the best I can with what I have and am grateful for everyday I'm alive.

Thanks for reading.

Hello and welcome to my corner of Etsy. My name is ~SaRaH~ and I love to create using different mediums. I've recently had my first child so my focus has changed from creating with hemp and small beads to sewing baby toys and iron-on patches. Once I'm able to have my own workspace, I'll be creating beautiful beaded jewelry again in no time!

I really enjoy giving new life to "old" things. For example, thrift stores and yard sales are my weakness. I purchase clothing that's drab and upcycle them into something better! Generally this involves anTieDying and/or adding a patch. I also repurpose clothes, generally corduroy, to be used as fabric for other fun items.

I recycle shipping materials wherever possible. It cuts down on shipping costs for you and helps save the environment at the same time!

~>If paying by CHECK, your item will ship only after the check has cleared.
~>If paying by MONEY ORDER, your item will ship only after it has been cashed. Yes, fake money orders do exist, unfortunately.
~>One of the oldest excuses is "it's in the mail." If paying with CASH and I don't receive it (maybe it got lost in the mail), it is the buyer's responsibility to fix the problem and to make sure the payment gets to me. It is also the buyer's responsibility to clearly communicate any updates that are happening.
~>If you're interested in trading, please send me a convo BEFORE you purchase anything. I'm always open to hearing what you have to offer, but I make no promises that I'm going to accept said offer. Pictures are always helpful.

If something goes awry, please tell me and we will work out the situation together. I can always cancel a transaction if need be. If I'm contacted ahead of time, I will not leave negative feedback. However, if I'm not contacted by a non-payer, I will leave negative feedback!
All items ship within 1-2 days after payment has been received or cleared. Saturday shipments are attempted, but not promised. Custom orders take longer to ship since I have to make your unique item.

I ship everything I offer to the United States and only certain items internationally. These items include: Patches of varying sizes and Crinkle Taggie Toys.

However, if there's something you're interested in and happen to be an international buyer, please send me a convo BEFORE you purchase so that I may go to the post office and get an accurate shipping cost to your country.

If you would like to add insurance for both international and domestic orders, please send me a convo BEFORE purchasing your item. These extras cost more and will be reflected in an updated listing for you to then purchase.

As someone who cares deeply about the environment, I re-use packaging materials and envelopes. If your package looks a little haggard upon arrival, please know that it's just due to being recycled and that I have taken extra care to notice any flaws. If I felt the packaging material/envelope wouldn't allow for a safe arrival to you, I wouldn't re-use it.
Additional policies and FAQs
Things I'm generally looking for in trade are dread beads, balls of hemp, hemp fabric, fabric remnants, dread tams (preferably with a brim and maybe ear flaps), hemp head bands, patchwork stuff, and crystals. But I will consider anything for trade.

I do wholesale deals as well.

One more thing...I take measurements of everything for the benefit of the customer. Please take measurements of yourself before purchase so that there are no surprises once you receive an item.
