It's #birdhouse season! This little cutie is inspired by my favorite summer flowers- Hydrangeas! Not only are they beautiful but they contain many therapeutic phytochemicals that are protective against cell damage and help fight autoimmune disorders!

About

Waupecony River

My name is Meg, and I am a potter, painter, woodcut artist; really just a general maker of things. Waupecony is a Native American word meaning white bones. I chose that name because I’ve always been inspired by Native American pottery and art. The town of Flushing, along the Flint River where I live, is said to be a place where the Sauk people retreated after being defeated by the Chippewa. Only 12 Sauk women survived. When I moved to the area, it was also in a way, a retreat for me; a new beginning. I wanted to live more simply- reduce things to only the basic or essential elements. Bare-bones. I like to think my pottery has the same feel- modern and simplified in design, with a connection to the history and land.
In addition to making ceramics, I teach pottery and painting classes in my downtown studio.

Hi! I'm Meg. I'm the artist and designer behind Waupecony River Studio. I make small batch modern handmade ceramics in my studio.

Shop policies

Last updated on March 26, 2017
Welcome to my shop! Waupecony River Studio is a small local ceramic and art studio located in downtown Flushing, MI.
Everything in my shop is made by myself on the pottery wheel, therefore no pieces are exactly identical. All of the glazes are hand painted, and designs are hand carved. The pieces listed as made to order will not be exactly identical to the listing picture, as it is made by hand some slight variations will occur.
All pieces are fired in an electric kiln to cone 04 and then glaze fired to cone 6. All glazes are food safe. I recommend hand washing and microwaving minimally to increase the life of the pieces you purchase.
Please read before you buy, some items are listed as made to order and will take 2-4 weeks to make. Be aware that these pieces are handmade by one person, with two little hands. Sometimes things take longer to ship because they need to be remade because of breakage, or not making it through the first or second firing. Please be patient because quality pottery takes time to be made, packaged and sent.
Please check out the policies page for other information including information about shipping.

Payment
I will hold all orders until payments have cleared. For custom orders, I can't start making them until payment is made in full. Payments through paypal or etsy are accepted.
Shipping
ALL SHIPMENTS WILL BE MAILED TO THE ADDRESS ON YOUR ETSY ORDER!
PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR ADDRESS INFORMATION IS CORRECT.

Typically I ship through USPS.
Orders usually take 3-5 days to package up and process. Some items may need to be remade because of cracks or firing mishaps.

International shipping charges are very expensive for the heavy breakable pieces. I generally ship first class USPS for international shipments under 4 pounds, and priority for shipments over 4 pounds. Also, the buyer must pay for customs, VAT, and any other destination country expenses.
Refunds and Exchanges
Items cannot be returned once shipped unless there is a problem of breakage from the shipping process. If the item has been damaged during shipping, generally I will refund your money and cancel the transaction once I see a photo of the broken work and its packaging. I won't be able to remake any work that is damaged during shipping.
I DO NOT ACCEPT RETURNS FOR MADE TO ODER ITEMS.
If there is a circumstance where I need to accept the ceramics back, the buyer is responsible for the shipping costs and the seller will not be able to refund any shipping costs.
Custom orders are not returnable.
All sales are final.
