    • Community Art School + Ceramics Studio (supply some glazes)

    • Production Pottery + Firing Facility

All Mcbeard Ceramics are twice-fired at a local production pottery housing several electric kilns for bisque firing and several large gas kilns for high firing. Employees of the pottery load, fire, and unload each batch of pots made and glazed by Mcbeard Ceramics, as well as mix the glazes used.

    Additional policies and FAQs
M c b e a r d C e r a m i c s are individually handmade in small batches and vary accordingly. Pieces are imperfect and exact details may vary from those shown in photographs. Characteristics of handmade ceramics include bumps, dips, and varying texture / color within the clay body, as well as drips, crackle, specks, spots, and variation in color, texture and speckling within glazes. Glaze thickness may vary, and spots or sections of clay may be visible. Iron speckling from reduction firing varies from a fine pepper-like sprinkling over the entire glazed surface, to large, dark iron "blossoms" which may appear anywhere on the piece. Glaze finish, texture, and color varies depending on location in kiln. Variation in exact size and volume is common. Pieces may not be perfectly round. Characteristics of high fired gritty stoneware include rough bases which smooth with time/washing but may scratch furniture if used on bare tabletops, etc. These idiosyncrasies and details add interest to tableware with an otherwise minimalist design. They are what separate Mcbeard Ceramics from big-box factory-made tableware. Each piece is carefully inspected before shipping. If you are for any reason unhappy with your order, please see the return policy (above).

    Frequently asked questions
Why is my shipping cost so high? Can I get a shipping discount for multiple items?

Shipping costs are estimates based on delivery location, and package size and weight. Ceramics are relatively heavy, large, and fragile and must be packed accordingly.

Please keep in mind that while I cannot discount shipping ahead of time, if the actual cost of shipping is lower than what you paid, overages (minus packing costs) will be refunded once product ships.

Do you make ______ item in ______ color/style?

All available items at any given time will be listed in the shop for your convenience. If not listed, the item is not available.

Are these bowls, plates, mugs, etc. dishwasher, oven, and microwave safe?

Mcbeard Ceramics are dishwasher safe, but please avoid thermal shock caused by extreme changes in temperature. Not for use on stove-top or broiler.

Stoneware plates are not recommended for use in the microwave and must be heated with extreme caution when using the oven. The best way to wash hand made ceramics is of course by hand.

I live in Colorado Springs. Can I pick up my order in person?

Locals! As much as I adore you, I can't meet up and deliver orders individually. Please sign up for my newsletter at mcbeardceramics.com or follow @mcbeardceramics on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter to find out about local pop-up sales. And stop by Ladyfingers Letterpress or G44 Gallery to shop their selection of Mcbeard Ceramics in person!

Can I add Mcbeard Ceramics to my wedding registry?

Sure! Feel free to link to any of my products in your online registry, but do keep in mind that ready-to-ship sets and individual items may sell out. Please note the end date of each new collection as posted in the shop announcement. Feel free to contact me for more info.

    I bought _______ , __________ , and ____________ . Is there a discount for __________ ? How much for a dozen of _______________?

All prices are as listed. No "bulk" or other discounts.

    I'm a food photographer/stylist/blogger/etc. Can we collaborate?

I cannot send out free product, but get in touch for a discount I've created just for industry folks who would like to tag my products in their work.

I love your work! Can you make ______________ for me in a custom design/color/style?

I do not make custom designs/colors/styles or products. All available items are listed in the shop.
