Wow! Can't believe we recognized the need for quality wooden toys 25-30 years ago. That means we are now in our "twilight years"! Our response: "We can do this"! Beautifully designed, simple wooden toys that are safe, easy for play (no batteries required - just imagination) Yes! this is what keeps us busy. No two toys will be exactly alike; and that is okay; each is unique. They are made one at a time! We are too blessed to be stressed by the hours we labor to produce McCoyToys - "quality wooden toys" that we expect to last for generations.
A McCoyToys checkerboard was featured in the December 2016 issue of Southern Living Magazine "Gift Guide" and the February 2010 issue of Southern Living Magazine section: "Made By Southern Hands".

5 out of 5 starsMy first thought when shopping for a jump rope was that I'd find a tacky plastic one covered in glitter, so seeing old wooden toys like this still being made is so charming! I couldn't resist and it shipped quick and was in perfect condition. It's infinitely better than any factory-made product, hands-down. I've been told all profits go towards charity, as well. I am so happy to support such a lovely small business people. Hopefully I can get my niece and nephew interested so I can buy again!

John's knowledge of wood came from years of working in the furniture industry in NC. Sadly, the doors closed for all of the local companies. What began as dabbling in making different wood items as a hobby became a small business.
We have made hand-crafted toys, games & puzzles for over 20 years - and from the beginning, we knew that the "right thing to do" was to use wood & paint (mfg in USA) that are "lead-free" & safe for children.
There is life after retirement! We have been blessed beyond measure & would never have dreamed of the opportunities that would come our way.

John is the only person allowed in wood working shop! He is the creator of the toys - that he then passes along for Emily to paint, stain, etc, assembly and completion. Emily does allow a elf or two in her workroom.
Shop policies
Knowing the history and origin of American folk toys adds interest, amazement and wonder.
Products used in the construction and completion of our toys allow them to be safe for children. Science Teachers, Elementary School Teachers, Librarians, Daycares, and parents of handicapped and autistic children are a few of those who have found our toys stimulating, entertaining, and enjoyable for children of all ages.
Customer satisfaction is a priority and we request feedback from our customers.
Accepted payment methods
Returns and exchanges

I don't accept cancellations
The following items can't be returned or exchanged
- Custom or personalized orders
- Perishable products (like food or flowers)
- Digital downloads
- Intimate items (for health/hygiene reasons)
Returns and exchange details
Orders may be exchanged within 10 days of shipping date. Shipping costs will not be refunded and additional shipping costs may apply.
No refunds, returns or exchanges on Custom orders
Payment
North Carolina residents will be charged 6.75% sales tax on all orders.
Shipping
Except for custom work orders will be shipped within 1 – 2 business days or less, (unless otherwise stated for a specific item) after payment is received. We include the cost of packaging in our shipping estimates. Confirmations are included on all orders. If multiple items are purchased we will refund excess S&H above our costs. You will be contacted if we are unable to ship within that time frame for any reason.
