My tag line, "Serendipity, Recycled", says it all.

Serendipity = accidental discovery. That describes this shop in many ways. It was serendipity that gave me the idea. It is serendipity when I find the perfect stained wool sweater to unravel and turn into something useful. It was serendipity that a dear friend saw my plight and, along with many other kind and generous people, offered me a glimmer of hope (more like a giant disco ball rather than a glimmer!)

And, of course, the "recycled" part refers to my attempt to include some kind of reused element into everything I make. From plastic grocery bags destined for the trash can to holey sweater that even the thrift store cannot sell - I can turn this trash into something useful!

If you prefer to contact me directly by email, my address is: McCrenshawsKnits [!at] yahoo.com

I also have a "Contact Me" form on my blog:
http://mccrenshaw.blogspot.com/p/contact-me.html

I reply to all messages within 24 hours and most likely sooner. If you do not hear back from me by then, please try again as your message could have been lost... computers aren't perfect (yet!)

Accepted payment methods

  • Money Order
Payment
I currently accept PayPal and credit card payments via Paypal.

During check out, just click on the Pay with PayPal button. On the next page, you will be asked if you want to pay with PayPal or a credit card. Choose your option. If you pay with credit card, PayPal will not have your information and you will not be required to open a PayPal account.

Please see my "Custom Orders" section, below, for more about payments for these items.
Shipping
I am currently shipping to the US only. Once I get up and running, I will expand my shipping areas. If you are not in the US and would like to purchase an item, please convo me and I will look into shipping the item to you.

I send all items First Class via the USPS. I will gladly upgrade your shipping to Priority or Express if you would like. PLEASE CONVO ME BEFORE PLACING YOUR ORDER so I can make the necessary changes to the listing, I will then list the item as reserved with your first name and last initial in the title. If you have already purchased the item and would like to upgrade shipping, get in touch with me as soon as possible and I will email you an invoice for the extra shipping charges.

I reuse shipping materials whenever possible. If you prefer new shipping materials, please include this information in the “Notes to Seller” section at checkout.

I offer combined shipping to a single address. If you are ordering items to be sent to different addresses, regular shipping costs will apply for each address.

I pay for Delivery Confirmation on all orders over $20. If you would like this service or a tracking number and your order is below $20, please let me know and I'll tell you what the extra charge will be.

I ship once per week, on Saturdays. However, if I am heading near the Post Office on any other day, I will ship bring your item along and ship it to you. If you would prefer I send it out ASAP, please let me know. The post office isn’t far away and I have a teenager on the Track team – a quick sprint down town isn’t a big deal.

If actual shipping charges end up being $1 or more below the price I have charged, I will return the difference to you via PayPal. If you've paid by money order, I will mail you the difference in a money order.
Refunds and Exchanges
I will accept exchanges/give refunds for unused items 60 days after the item has been received. You must ship the item back at your own expense.

If an item frays, comes apart, etc. and you have followed washing instructions and not grossly misused the item, I will gladly refund/exchange your item and pay shipping for you to return the item.
Additional policies and FAQs
• Handmade

Many of my items are made with recycled materials such as: plastic grocery bags, unraveled knitted items, and mesh produce bags. I will specify in the item description which materials are new and which are recycled.

Due to the nature of handmade items, there may be occasional flaws. I will always closely inspect each item and mention any flaws within the item description and, if it can be seen, I’ll include a photo of the flaw.

All items are handmade, by me, in my home. I have a cat who is around the yarn, though not directly in contact with it.

Many items are hand washed before they are shipped. I use The Peaceful Housewife’s homemade laundry detergent. It contains the following ingredients: Sodium borate, sodium carbonate, Okie Scents handmade soap (water, sodium hydroxide, saponified oils), essential or fragrance oils.

• Gifts

I wrap all items nicely, often re-using wrapping materials. If you prefer no wrapping, or new wrapping materials, please indicate this in a Note to Seller. I will be happy to oblige at no extra cost.

If you would like a special note attached to an item, I will do so free of charge. Just let me know what you’d like it to say in the “Notes to Seller” section at checkout.

• Custom Orders

If you do not see what you are looking for or would like an item made in a particular color or with a certain fiber, please contact me. I will let you know if I am able to make your item, give you a price, etc.

I will create you your own listing with your custom order and convo or email you when it is ready. You will have 10 days to purchase this item, or I will re-list it with my regular shop inventory. Items worth over $100 will require a deposit.

***If you ask for a custom order and I make it, but you do not like the final product, please don't be shy about saying something! Unless the item is personalized, I can always just list it in my shop. I never want anyone to spend money on something that they do not like. I will always make a listing for your custom item with a description and photos (just like all of my other listings) so you can see it before purchasing. Do not buy it if you don't like it! Just convo me, telling me what's wrong and I can make a new item or attempt to change the one I've already made. You will always have the option to just say "forget it", too. Just, please, be honest and keep the lines of communication open!
