About Meandrous

Sales 53
On Etsy since 2012

A new line for the online community!

Meandrous began in 2004 when a budding artist decided to take the advice of friends and family and sell the ear wraps and hair flowers they'd designed online and in local boutiques. Meander launched their first Etsy shop in 2006, but later rebranded as "Meandrous" (as a play on their name and artistic aesthetic) in 2012. After creating some of the most intricate and realistic ear wraps, flower crowns, and home art for brides, costumers, and free spirits all over the world for over 12 years, Meander began to experiment with diorama jewelry and contemporary diorama art. After selling diorama jewelry almost exclusively in local boutiques and galleries for the last two years, Meander decided to re-launch the Meandrous Etsy shop with a new web-only exclusive line of diorama jewelry, as well as a limited selection of some of their OOAK boutique style pieces.

Meandrous designs are for unique jewelry collectors, dreamers, fantasy-lovers, dollhouse collectors, chronic readers, gardeners, or even the flower fans who can't ever keep a real plant alive (the artist falling into that particular category!)

By supporting the artist, you're supporting a disabled, queer, trans-owned business.

The artist chooses to incorporate biodegradable, sustainable, and natural materials in as often as possible. The artist also wishes for art to be accessible to as many populations as possible, while still providing fair and reasonable compensation for craftspeople. As such, the artist stands strongly against artificially inflating the value of artwork to add to its sense of cultural value and prices their artwork to reflect a combination of material cost and labor associated with the creation and promotion of said pieces, allowing the object to dictate its own value to the collector, rather than its price tag.

A portion of proceeds are donated to charitable causes including US poverty relief, increasing access to education for girls in developing nations, and disaster aid worldwide.

Returns and exchange details
Generally, returns will be accepted for any reason, on any item with the few caveats:

* Items which may be worn in the hair or around the ear (such as hair clips, ear wraps, etc.) are not hygienic to be re-sold and therefore, returns will not be accepted on such items unless the shipping box has been UNOPENED. If you have changed your mind about your purchase, please DO NOT OPEN your package (as this is my only way to ensure an item has not been worn) or a return may be declined.

* Items which are made of metal and are able to be safely sanitized (such as necklaces with metal chains) or items which are not wearable (such as art pieces) may be opened and later returned, provided they are in original condition/not worn or displayed for any substantial period of time before a return is decided upon. Items which show signs of use may have their return request declined.

--SHIPPING FEES ON RETURNS (for general returns or discovery of defect)--

* Should the customer discover a defect and wish to return their purchase, return shipping and packaging costs will be covered by the artist up to $7 USD for domestic customers and up to $15 USD to worldwide customers.

* Shipping on an item which is being returned for reasons other than damage/defect (i.e., "change of heart", gift returns etc.) will be paid by the purchaser/recipient. If original packaging is not used for the return, the customer should package the item sufficiently to protect it against reasonable mail carrier/transport treatment. Should the package returned to the artist be found to have been damaged due to insufficient packaging, the purchase may not be reimbursed. The customer should consider services such as tracking or insurance, as packages that do not arrive back to the artist may also not be reimbursed.

* Add-on shipping fees from upgraded mail service a customer may have chosen on the original purchase will not be reimbursed in any return situation.

* Accidents sometimes happen. If your item is damaged in-transit, please contact the artist through etsy or via email at meandrousart [!at] to have your individual situation addressed. Possible actions can include reimbursement of purchase, store credit, or full replacement, depending on the situation.
Please complete your payment at the time of purchase. If a payment is not made within 48 hours of purchase, the artist reserves the right to cancel the order.
The artist chooses to include shipping/packaging costs in their pricing equation and therefore does not add on dedicated shipping costs. Unless otherwise specified, all products purchased will have no additional shipping fees added to the total.

All purchases will be mailed First Class with tracking and confirmation through the USPS. Purchases made by overseas customers will have their package leave USPS care and enter their country's equivalent to complete the delivery. The artist is not responsible for, and cannot control, factors related to postal carrier service once the package leaves their possession and any issues must be resolved between purchaser and carrier.

A customer who wishes to upgrade their shipping to faster USPS Priority Mail may upgrade at the time of purchase. Any additional customs, or other mail-related, fees which may apply in the customer's country will be their responsibility.
Additional policies and FAQs
OOAK (one-of-a-kind) items are created and completed before listing and the purchaser will receive the item pictured in the photographs. They will be shipped within 48 hours of purchase, unless otherwise stated.

Other items are created when the order is received and the purchaser will receive an item that is a close replica of the item pictured in the photographs. Due to the nature of the materials and of handmade art in general, there may be some variation in color, shape, composition, etc. in the final product. The artist makes their best attempt to replicate the item as closely to the picture as possible, but will prioritize composition and balance over exact replication, according to the artists' discretion.
