This product was really high quality. I've had it for a couple weeks and its withheld the test of everyday wear quite well. However, I would not recommend this if you're looking for an authentic Bajoran earring. The chain is too short to wrap around like they do in the shows. Still, it's fun to have just because, and I enjoy wearing it proudly on my right ear.

Great item and excellent service
Elfling Creations: Fantasy-Inspired Art and Accessories
I've always been an artist at heart; all throughout my school years I spent as much time as possible in art classrooms. After graduating high school I put this aside for a bit when I fell in love with the written word and ended up with a degree in English (focusing on Literature). Never truly giving up on my first love, however, I soon missed the feeling of making things and when a friend put a crochet hook in my hand several years ago, there was no going back.
Since that time I've taught myself how to crochet, make chainmaille and jewelry, spin and dye yarn, embroider, cross stitch, sew, and sculpt polymer clay, as well as continuing to work on creative writing (my genre of choice is fantasy), but I'm always keeping an eye out for new ways to be artistic. You could say I have a short attention span, but I prefer to think of myself as a jack of all trades.
My types of crafting may be all over the place, but they generally all meet in the same place: fantasy. I have been a fan of the genre since my dad read me "The Hobbit" for the first time when I was six- little did he know the monster he was creating! The name "Elfling Creations" comes from my fantasy alter ego (roleplay character, costume, etc) who is a half elf/half halfling (hobbit).
Elfling Creations is just me, but I do have some help; my wonderful husband Josh does the more technical crafty bits (namely twisting jump rings, sculpting tiny clay accessories for dolls, and drilling dice), as well as running post office trips. Meanwhile my kitty-daughter Clarabell supervises- meaning she gets underfoot and demands attention when I'm knee-deep in glitter or tangled in yarn.
On a side note, "Meri" is my nickname; I decided long ago that I hated the name Susan so I avoid using it whenever possible. It's kind of like having a secret identity, although by this point my real name is usually the more secret one. ;)
Owner, Maker, Designer, Artist, Elf-Girl
I'm Meri, the artist behind Elfling Creations. When I'm not spending time doing artsy things, I enjoy writing, geocaching, reading, playing D&D, learning to hoop dance and juggle, and roaming PA while wearing various costumes. Life has to be fun! ;)
Errand Runner, Post Office Liaison, Helper, Office Monster
Meri's husband Josh is, in his own words, "staff technical support". He does the technical crafting (making jump rings, drilling dice, etc) and adventures to the post office several times each week.
Muse, Supervisor, Resident Cat
This is Clara, Meri's loyal companion and muse. She keeps a keen eye on the goings on, ever hopeful for a dropped skein of yarn. Her duties include reminding Meri to take breaks, chasing toy mousies, and trying to get herself stuck in the fridge.

Accepted payment methods
- Accepts Etsy gift cards
- Money Order
My other items have varying shipping costs based on weight, but I do combine shipping on everything in my shop, too! If you have any questions, please ask.***
I accept Paypal and direct credit card payments through Etsy (including Etsy gift cards!), as well as US checks and US money orders. (However, if you select the "money order" payment option, please do not send cash.)
I can gladly accept US checks or US money orders (not international ones) if you don't have a credit card. If you send me a money order or check, the item will be mailed out as soon as the payment clears/deposits.
***For PA Residents:***
Please note that I have to charge a 6% sales tax to Pennsylvania residents (this is also on shipping; unfortunately shipping is taxed here, too, when the item is taxable). This should factor directly into your order if you're from PA.
I ship almost everything in my shop in a well-padded envelope; things that are too large, fragile, or awkward for that get shipped in a well-padded cardboard box. I reuse packaging whenever possible. I always combine shipping costs (each additional items ships at no extra cost!).
-If the shipping ends up costing less than you were charged by US $1.00 or more, I will refund you the extra amount you paid.
Ready-made items are shipped within 3 or 4 business days of payment clearing (custom items are shipped once they are finished). I do try to mail things out sooner than this, though.
SHIPPING TIME AND INFO TO THE UNITED STATES:
I ship almost everything to the US with USPS First Class to keep the shipping cost as low as possible. Delivery confirmation (tracking) is included automatically on everything going within the US.
-Once your order is mailed, shipping time within the US is usually 3-5 business days to get to you. (It may take a little longer than this to reach you the closer it gets to Christmas and the winter holidays.)
-My custom dolls are shipped within the US with USPS Priority (with insurance and tracking) rather than First Class because they're very one-of-a-kind items. All other items are sent First Class.
INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING TIME AND INFO:
For all other countries I ship First-Class International. The customer is responsible for any customs and duties fees.
-Shipping time for international orders can take as little as 2-3 weeks to reach you, but sometimes could take as much as 6-8 weeks. Usually an item falls within 3 weeks, but it could take longer depending on how fast the post office moves the package along and how close to the winter holiday it is.
-My custom dolls are sent internationally with USPS Registered Mail (the safest international shipping option) because they are very one-of-a-kind. All other items are sent First Class International.
NEED EXPEDITED SHIPPING?
If you need an item to get to you faster than I mentioned above, please contact me via Etsy with your location, the item, and when you need it by and I can give you a price quote for upgraded shipping.
Refunds and Exchanges
RETURNS AND REFUND INFO:
I will accept returns on ready-made items (most listings in my shop) within two weeks of you receiving the item, but the item has to be in a never-used condition and shipped back to me securely. If for some reason you are unhappy with your purchase, please let me know as soon as possible and contact me before you mail it back so we can discuss the transaction. I promise that I answer my emails right away. I will refund your money as soon as I receive the item back (however, I can’t refund the return shipping to get the item back to me).
-Custom items are non-returnable, however.
If your item happens to break on you through normal use, please let me know so I can try what I can to either fix it or replace it. Since it's handmade, I'll hopefully be able to help!
Additional policies and FAQs
SHOP AND GENERAL INFO:
***The items in my shop are NOT intended for children!*** My creations are for young-at-heart adults; for example the dolls are art dolls, not play dolls (they all have small parts), and the costume accessories (horns, ears, etc) are crafted to fit adults and contain small parts. Due to CPSIA regulations, please keep all items away from children under 12.
By purchasing the handmade items in this shop, you acknowledge reading the policies and agree to not hold Elfling Creations responsible for any and all liability that may arise from using said items.
Everything is also from a smoke-free home. We do have a cat, however, but she isn't allowed to smoke or sleep on the art supplies. Some hair could end up in things (especially yarn), though, so this is a warning if you're highly allergic to animals.
Colors may appear different on every monitor and screen so what you see on your screen may vary slightly from the color of the actual item.
I love making custom things! If you are interested in something made special, just send me a message and we can plan it out. Depending on the price of the item or how custom it is, I may require a deposit. (Generally if you're requesting jewelry, no deposit is needed.)
CARTILAGE CHAIN EARRING INFORMATION:
~I can switch pierced earring posts out with clip-ons (for the earlobe) or cuffs (for the cartilage) for no additional cost.
(The cuff looks like this: http://www.etsy.com/listing/71156014
and the lobe clip on looks like the bottom on this earring: http://www.etsy.com/transaction/32963154 )
~For a few more dollars, I can switch out the earring posts for Sterling Silver or 14k gold plated (by default I use stainless steel pierced earring posts).
~By default my earring posts are 21 gauge (the standard size you'd get at the mall), but if your cartilage piercing is a different size than this, let me know!
~For the larger, multi-color chains, I make each individual link by hand and connect them together into the chain. Since these are handmade, there are some places in the copper rings where the copper color may show through where the rings were cut open. It isn't very noticeable, though, but this is just a heads up so you know.
~I can put as many posts on the earring as you have piercings.
~I can make any of my single-ear earrings into pairs or matching sets.
EAR CUFF INFORMATION:
~My cartilage ear cuffs are made to fit either ear.
~I can turn all of my clip-on ear cuffs into pierced studs, like this earring: http://www.etsy.com/listing/129263444/
If you'd like this option, just ask!
~Ear cuffs just slide onto the ear and rest on the middle cartilage. If it feels loose, squeeze the ear cuff part gently to tighten it a bit.
EARRING SIZE INFORMATION:
~Please note that the mannequin head I use for modeling things is slightly smaller than an actual human head, so please read the measurements when looking at a listing and compare this to your own ear if you're wondering how it will fit. (You can do this with a cloth measuring tape, or take a piece of string, measure out the length of the earring against a ruler, and then hold that measured string against your own ear.)
~Please also keep in mind that everyone's ears are different sizes, so the ear cuffs may sit on your ear differently than they do on the mannequin since the cuffs are one size fits all.
