Merlin's Bark Products

Prince Merlinus Elfwish Shrum (better known as "Merlin" to his subjects) went to the rainbow bridge on January 3, 2015 after a brief battle with lupus. Merlin was born on April 18, 2000 and at the age of 10 weeks was picked up by his parents immediately following their returned from their honeymoon as he was their wedding gift to each other. Merlin had an adventurous spirit and loved to explore. Some of his most famous explorations included hikes through McConnells Mill, Ohiopyle, the Allegheny National Forest, Hartwood Acres, North Park, and every single square inch of Highland Park. Merlin was also notorious for sticking his nose into every single bag left on the floor (or under a Christmas tree) because one could never be sure of what kind of treasures they may hold (squeakable or edible). Not to be restricted on land alone, he was also famous for his ability to captain a kayak on the Allegheny River and other bodies of water. When not exploring, Merlin could be found spending a leisurely afternoon just hanging out under the hammock at home or traveling to his favorite vacation spots in the Outer Banks or Baltimore. Some of his most favorite hobbies included: acquiring new toys, taking walks, trips in the car, barking at cats, and eating. Especially eating. Merlin was the greatest pup to ever rule the land and will be deeply missed by both of his parents and those that loved him. To honor his memory, please give an extra treat (or two) to a pet of your choice.

Sure we let our dog run our company (why not, he already ran our lives), but here at Merlin's Bark Products we are committed to bringing you the finest quality of products available. Before any items went out the door it was subjected to Merlin's "nose seal" of approval. And trust us, he was very finicky. Okay, maybe not about what he ate (or rolled in), but Merlin was very picky about the construction and quality of all of our products. After all, the products were (and still are) being marketed under his name and he was the greatest CEO there ever was.

Merlin's Bark Products was established in March of 2008 and consisted of just three employees, Merlin and his parents. All of our items are handcrafted by Merlin's parents from beginning to end. At Merlin's Bark Products we strive to provide our customers not only with high quality pet feeders, but also with outstanding customer service too.

Our feeders were featured in the "Stuff We Love" section of the Fall 2011 issue of Modern Dog magazine!

Why your pet should use an elevated feeder? Not only do they look nicer than just a plain old bowl setting on the floor, but elevated feeders are very beneficial for pets too. Does your pet eat too fast or cough and gag when eating? Giving them an elevated feeder to eat out of is the most common solution. Veterinarians recommend elevated feeders because they help ease digestion problems, and are easier for pets that have problems with arthritis, neck or back problems to eat out of. Also, using raised feeding bowls help provide pet owners with a more hygienic and cleaner house. How great is that!

Wondering what size elevated feeder would be perfect for your pet? Below are some guidelines to help you find the proper height and bowl size:

* The feeder's height. The usual guideline to find the perfect feeder height is six inches below the pet's withers (i.e. front shoulders). Another broader guideline is that the feeder's height be between 4 to 10 inches below the withers. For example, if you got a tiny pup (or kitty) and six inches seem like a lot, four inches or less would be a good size.

* The bowl capacity.
1/2-pint bowl - holds 1 cup
1-pint bowl - holds 2 cups
1-quart bowl - holds 4 cups
2-quart bowl - holds 8 cups
3-quart bowl - holds 12 cups
5-quart bowl - holds 20 cups

Custom orders are always welcomed! We offer a wide variety of different colors (paint or stain) and can create any feeder in the exact height and bowl size needed for your pet.
