About MetalRoots

Sales 1,220
On Etsy since 2015

A little bit about me, the maker, at Metal Roots.

I've always been an artist and have worked with many different mediums but metal is my favorite. There is something about taking metal wire or sheet and turning it into something pretty and wearable with imagination, heat, and a hammer. I use top quality materials and each piece is given my full attention from start to finish.

I'm a single mom, living and working hard, in rural Maine. After years of this being a hobby, at the end of 2015, I decided to take a leap of faith and make this adventure with jewelry, into a full time business. I can honestly say that I love my job! I love that there is always more to learn, new ideas, and tools! Lots and lots of tools! :)

My style is pretty much rustic perfectionist, if that makes any sense. I like the rustic look but I also want it to be top quality and refined. I'm not exactly sure where those two meet, but I'm figuring it out more and more each day.

Making clients happy is a top priority. I am very proud of my work and always want you to be happy. Please don't ever hesitate to contact me if there is something you are not completely happy with. I will work with you and do my best to come up with a resolution.

Becoming a proud member of The Artisan Group, having a few pieces on hit TV shows, gifting to celebrities at the GBK Emmy Awards Celebrity Gift Lounge, were big highlights of my business in 2016, and I hope the upward momentum continues.

My jewelry has been used on hit TV series like, Jane the Virgin, Quantico, The Vampire Diaries, Blue Bloods, Mom, The Fosters, and Fuller House. As well as, gifted to the 2016 GBK Emmy Awards Celebrity Gift Lounge; gifted as part of a collection to over twenty Celebrity Mom's for Mother's Day 2017 and 2018; and proudly featured in DAYSPA Magazine's gift giving guide in 2016. All made possible in participation with The Artisan Group.

In 2016, Metal Roots expanded with a line of custom and designer dog tags which you can find at metalhounds.com and on Instagram @metalhounds.

Thank you for visiting my shop and I hope you find something you like! If you have something in mind and you don't see it listed, shoot me a message and I'll be happy to respond. Anything is possible!

Frequently asked questions
GENERAL CARE INSTRUCTIONS

~ The best way to prevent jewelry from tarnishing is to store your clean, dry pieces in a dry container~ Keep items separate to prevent tangling and scratching.
~ Avoid leaving your jewelry in the bathroom, as the moisture will speed up the oxidation process.
~ Minimize your jewelry's contact to chemicals such as lotions, hairspray, perfume, bleach, etc.)

CLEANING STERLING SILVER JEWELRY

To clean your sterling silver jewelry, use mild soap and water, a sterling silver polishing cloth, or a sterling silver jewelry cleaning solution. I use Hagerty Silver Clean and a polishing pad or cloth to remove tarnish. If using a cleaning solution, be careful to follow the directions and do not leave the jewelry in for too long. Be sure to rinse thoroughly and dry with a soft cloth.

CLEANING FOR GOLD FILLED/GOLD VERMEIL JEWELRY

Please don't use jewelry cleaners on your gold filled or gold vermeil jewelry. To clean, mix mild soap and warm water, gently swish the jewelry and then dry with a soft cloth and let dry.

WHAT IS GOLD FILLED?

Gold filled is made of a solid layer of gold bonded to sterling silver or a base metal, usually brass.
High quality gold-filled pieces have the same appearance as solid 14 k gold. Gold-filled jewelry, even with daily wear, will last for years. Gold filled items have a much thicker layer than gold plated items, and are also of much higher quality.
