About

Inspired by Nature, Jewelry that Gives Back

I began making jewelry in high school, where I fell in love with the process at an early age. Something inside me knew I wanted to be doing this for the rest of my life. So I applied to study jewelry at Colorado State University, where the journey began to deepen.

After that I found work at a local custom jewelry design studio, where I learned many practical applications to jewelry, including wedding and engagement client relations, and computer aided design to create one of a kind pieces.

To further my knowledge of stones and stonesetting, I attended Revere Academy of Jewelry Arts, where I decided to stay and enrich my ties to the Bay Area jewelry community. I am always humbled by the way the community here embraces and supports one another, and it has helped my work evolve to new levels!

Taking my love of outdoors from my roots in CO, (and now in CA), my work is an impression of the sense of awe I get from my time in nature. Seeking to fuse modern design technique and aesthetic with a handmade element, Metal Wendler Jewelry offers unique and wearable commitment rings in eco-friendly materials whenever possible.

I work with gemstones that either lab created, recycled, or come with a very strict fair mining protocol. All metals used are recycled metals- either from the leading manufacturers in producing recycled fine metals and gold, or from casters using grain that is refined from vintage jewelry to create new gold alloys. Every piece I make is one I want you to be proud to wear, and have a great story to tell!

A portion of every sale goes to homelessness prevention programs in my home state, in a very progressive program that advocates for poor and at risk families in Southern CO. Check them out at www.lapuente.net .

• Exchanges for most items are acceptable, although you must message me before hand to receive consent on an exchange. If you have been approved for an exchange/return, these conditions must be met:

• Please do NOT purchase multiple listings in multiple sizes of the same ring, only to return the ones that do not fit. I can send you a ring sizer if needed to determine your size. IF YOU KNOW YOUR EXACT SIZE, EVERYONE GETS A BETTER DEAL OUT OF THE TRANSACTION. Please read my ring re-sizing policies below.

• If you have questions about my policy or any polices please contact me prior to purchase.

•RING RESIZING (If you buy a ring at a size from me and discover it does not fit you correctly as a result of the customer not knowing their exact size.)

Please be sure to get your exact ring size to me upon ordering your ring. You can visit a local jewelry store, where they will gladly and accurately size you for free. If you are unable to do this, please contact me and I can arrange to send you a ring sizer for $2.50 + shipping.

I can resize most, but not all rings depending on how much it needs to change. In some cases I have to remake the ring. Because of the work involved, price for a resizing varies between $30-75 on average. The buyer will cover the cost of sending back the ring to have it re-sized and the cost to re-send it back to the customer.. Please contact me for an estimate on a re-size of your ring.

• Frequent Questions / Problems Regarding Resizing:

*I occasionally have customers who purchase a ring, then once they receive it find out they need a different size with their wedding date only a few days away. It can take me up to 21 business days to resize a simple men's band because I'm very busy and I have a lot of customers who are waiting to receive their item. A resize goes to the back of the queue in order to fulfill demand.

**** AS AN OPTION, IT IS POSSIBLE TO GET A LOCAL JEWELRY STORE TO RESIZE YOUR RING. Most professional jewelry stores should be able to accommodate a simple ring re-size in a reasonable amount of time. Prices vary by jewelry store and metals in the ring.
Some jewelry stores may not be familiar with the oxidation or texture techniques used to create your ring. The sizing may have a visible "seam" as a result. I will gladly re-oxidize your item for you at a later time if you need to do so. Shipping charges may apply. Craftsmanship of local jewelry stores cannot be guaranteed by MetalWendler.

• OVERALL>>> If you MAKE SURE TO GET YOUR EXACT RING SIZE BEFORE PURCHASE, IT IS A HUGE HELP ON YOUR END AND MY END.

• Using Customer metal for a project?
I cannot use your metal to create a ring. My metal supplier works with refineries to melt metal down to it's pure constituents and alloy it into the metals you see in my store.

• What are the origins of your gemstones?
Whenever possible, I work with gemstones that either lab created, recycled, or come with a very strict fair mining protocol. All metals used are recycled metals- either from the leading manufacturers in producing recycled fine metals and gold, or from casters using grain that is refined from vintage jewelry to create new gold alloys. Every piece I make is one I want you to be proud to wear, and have a great story to tell!

• Can you tell me more about the metals you offer?

14k yellow, white and rose gold:
14k gold is 58.3% pure gold, and 41.7% other metals to alloy for a more durable product. 14k Yellow has a traditional yellow most people are familiar with, but not rich as 18k or 22k that contains more pure gold. Rose gold contains copper alloys to create the pinkness that is so unique to it.

18K gold:
18k gold is 75% pure gold, and 25% other metal alloy. This creates a warmer tone to the pinkness than 14k. Very durable, has an extra fine color quality when seen on the hand.

Palladium White Gold:
An alloy of white gold and palladium. Not quite as brittle as white gold is, and not quite as common as 14k white.

Platinum:
Platinum is one of the whitest precious metals, and does not require rhodium plating to retain it's whiteness. It has good resistance to wear and tear compared to white gold. Naturally hypoallergenic, platinum is a good choice for people who have metal allergy issues.

Platinum is one of the densest precious metals on the market, and will be noticeably heavier than comparable rings of the same size. Over time, your platinum jewelry may develop a natural patina, which can very quickly be re-polished back to it's original shine. Platinum is one of the most secure ways to hold your stones in place, and holds it's value over time very well.

• Engraving?
Please message me BEFORE purchase about your engraving idea. Rings can be engraved starting at $5 on silver items, but require extra time. Please contact seller before purchase to make sure the engraving can be accommodated in a timely manner with your due date. Here is a link to the engraving option: https://www.etsy.com/listing/472220710/engraving-option

• Oxidation/Patina?
Oxidation is a natural process of the metals reacting with elements in the environment, which can change or darken the color of the metals. I offer oxidized metals which uniformly cover the rings. The Oxidation (or patina) is only a surface treatment a few molecules thick and will fade with wear, becoming shiny as it rubs on metals and hard surfaces you interact with.

Yes! Please message me before your purchase to ensure your specialized details can be accommodated in a timely manner. All details, including pricing and timeline are on a case by case basis.

Sizing details

Your best insurance for a good fit is to be sized in person by a professional jewelry store, which will gladly do so for free. If you are looking at gold rings, I would recommend being sized by more than one store before purchase.

I offer a simple ring sizer to get an idea of your size: https://www.etsy.com/listing/265359527/reusable-ring-sizer-custom-ring-sizer

Ring Resizing

If you buy a ring at a size from me and discover it does not fit you correctly as a result of the customer not knowing their exact size...

I can resize most, but not all rings depending on how much it needs to change. In some cases I have to remake the ring.

Silver Items (Under $500)
Because of the work involved, price for a re-sizing varies between $30-75 on average. The buyer will cover the cost of sending back the ring to have it re-sized and the cost to re-send it back to the customer. Please contact me for an estimate, and time estimate on a re-size of your ring.

Gold Items (Over $500)
In most cases, I will do a simple re-size for free. This includes re-sizing a ring up or down within 1/2 size. Restrictions may apply.

Ring Resizing on a tight timeline...

I occasionally have customers who purchase a ring, then once they receive it find out they need a different size with their wedding date only a few days away. It can take me up to 21 business days to re-size a simple men's band because there are many customers in the queue waiting for items. A re-size goes to the back of the queue in order to fulfill demand. Contact me about emergencies or rush orders.

* AS AN OPTION, IT IS POSSIBLE TO GET A LOCAL JEWELRY STORE TO RE-SIZE YOUR RING. Most professional jewelry stores should be able to accommodate a simple ring re-size in a reasonable amount of time. Prices vary by jewelry store and metals in the ring. Craftsmanship of local jewelry stores cannot be guaranteed.

Every piece I make is one I want you to be proud to wear, and have a great story to tell!

As the gemstone industry is a profit driven trade, often dealers will not disclose this information unless pressed by the buyer. I will never claim a stone to be fair trade or sustainable if I don't have proof from the dealer/manufacturer.

Can you use customer metal for a project?

I cannot use your metal to create a ring. My metal supplier works with refineries to melt metal down to it's pure constituents and alloy it into the metals you see in my store.

Meet the maker at their studio?

Clients can make appointments with the shop owner if there are specific needs to be met. As most jewelry is custom made to order in your size, prior notice of items of interest are a huge help.

As I am very busy filling orders and trying to grow my business, I can only meet with clients who are 80%+ committed to getting and item with me.

Studio is located in Sebastopol, CA.

Diamonds and Gemstones from a customer?

In many cases, I would much rather use my own stones to offer you new/certified material for the best possible product.

In some cases, I can offer you one of my designs with a client stone. This will be considered on a case by case basis. Due to the nature of stonesetting, there is a risk of chipping/damaging a stone during the process. Store owner is not responsible for damage done to stone during this process, as only a gemologist would be able to fully know the cracks, fissures, and inconsistencies of any stone. Store owner is not responsible for insuring stones during shipment, and is not responsible for lost or stolen items during shipment to owner.

Please message before purchase if you are serious about a commission.
