Meeting, sharing and love

Once upon a time, there was a woman who wanted to know more about the Amerindian origins of Quebec culture. She worked with the Innu community for 8 years, learned the arts and crafts technique with them, and took great pleasure in it. She then decided to start her own company, to share her passion, and help keep these traditions alive.
She passed her knowledge on to her daughter, Isabelle.
Isabelle studied visual arts. She makes the paintings on medical shields. She's interested in current trends, and she brings a touch of color to some creations, for example with the "boho"dreamcatchers, with ribbons and feathers.
The name MétisArts refers to the mixing of cultures and arts, which give MétisArts its unique signature.

Did you know we make our own wooden beads, from branches? We collect branches in the woods, we cut them, make a hole in them, and sometimes make decorative patterns by wood-burning. We also create antler charms for our jewelry (earrings, necklaces, etc.) and other creations (dreamcatcher, medicine wheels and shields, etc.).

It's important for us to respect the environment. To do so, we collaborate with a clothing company based in Montreal. They sell us their leftover leather and fur. We also get beautiful deer and moose leather, from a local company that buys skins from hunters who hunt for the meat. That way, we make sure all the animal had to give is used, in harmony with the Native American tradition.
