Announcement   Welcome to furnARTure! I am busy working in my studio on new things, big and small, and looking for new interesting things to paint. This is the time of year I find new fun pieces for my canvases. I am working on bright colorful pieces again, many are wonderful "trash to treasure". Everything I paint is one of a kind. For my furniture I find interesting pieces and they become my canvas. Some things I design and my husband builds, other things he repairs or rebuilds. Everything I see is something to paint.

About

I am an artist who creates on unusual canvases

My friend Lori Portka (etsy.com/shop/LoriPortka) had an etsy shop and I decided to try it. I found it to be a good way to show my work and I have sold things to people that would never have seen my work.

I started as a teacher in California and ended up as an artist in central New York. I came to this by way of traveling the world with my Naval officer husband. Everywhere we lived I studied art, design or architecture. Now I have found a way to combine them all in my work.

I find pieces, big and small and they inspire my ideas. I really never know where a piece is going until I begin and each piece I work on is my favorite at the time. It is fun to paint pieces for clients so I can create a memory for them, especially to bring an old family piece into a new life.

I work in my wonderful, inspiring studio in the hills of central New York. I look out on the hills in all seasons and watch the birds and animals in our yard.

I could not do what I do without the help of my husband. He brings the truck when I find something that won't fit in the car. He repairs and gets the canvases primed and in the end builds the boxes for shipping.
