What is a Centering Pendant?

A work of art with a unique form. Being concave on both sides with a hole in the center allows the thumb and finger to slide to the center and touch. It's a calming and centering hand gesture (gyan mudra) that reminds you to Pause, Breathe, and reCenter yourSelf.

If my shop is empty it's because I am sold out.

Margaret Goodson Graham Studios makes pure silver (and copper!) Centering Pendants to remind you to reCenter yourSelf in your present moment.

Take your yoga, mindfulness, and meditation practice beyond the mat and learn to feel centered and grounded during the in-between times of everyday life.

With the thumb and forefinger in Gyan Mudra, touch your pendant anytime of day to take a few breaths and feel calm, whole, centered, complete, and relaxed.

Mudras ('gesture' or 'seal') originated in India and are a symbolic or ritual gesture used in Hindu and Buddhist religious practices. Gyan Mudra, seen commonly when people meditate is also called Chin Mudra and/or Gyana Mudra (when the hand is at the heart, with the palm facing in toward the body). I encourage you to do your own research on hasta (hand) mudras.

The chakra system originated in India (1,500 - 500 BC). The word chakra (which means wheel) was originally found in the Vedas and also used in the Upanishads and later in the Yoga Sutras. These designs are based on chakra depictions I have seen in many different books and resources, with my own artistic twist. I encourage you to do your own research on the significance of chakras.

Starting with a hand drawn design, Margaret Graham creates each individual pendant with metal clay, a material developed by the Japanese in the. 90s. Once assembled, dried, filed and sanded, each hollow pendant is fired in a kiln at 1650 degrees (1750 for copper) and comes out as SOLID METAL: 99.9% pure silver (AKA fine silver) and copper are currently available.

My designs are limited editions. Every Centering Pendant is signed and given an edition number on the edge of the piece. The "pure and simple" design is not limited. My signature and the year ('19, 2020, '21) will be inscribed in the edge.

Ask the Universe and you shall receive

I asked the Universe to bring more purpose and meaning to my jewelry and the idea for the form of my Centering Pendants came to me in the car one day while I was pondering how to help people with daily mindfulness and taking their yoga and meditation off the mat and into their everyday existence.

FAQs and info

1. Custom Orders are different from Made to Order listings.
....Custom Orders are offered WHEN I HAVE TIME AVAILABLE. At the time specified you can request pairing certain designs with certain stones, inscriptions in pendants, bail or no bail, etc. If you want to know when I'll be offering Custom Orders in the future, please join my mailing list by sending me your email in a direct message or by emailing margaretgoodsongraham [!at] gmail.com

....Made To Order listings are listings that I create just as they are shown in the pictures, no special requests, but offer much more frequently. For example: custom order requests were only available for 2 weeks in 2018 because that's all the time I had available for taking them (these even include custom design requests). Whereas, Made to Order listings are available a majority of the year but only include what I currently make and how I make it.

2. Why is the Heart Chakra (or some other design) never available?
....I create designs when I feel inspired and then those designs are editioned a limited number of times. The heart chakra sells out very quickly. It's best that you either follow me on social media (FB: MGoodsonGraham or IG: mgoodson_graham_studios) or sign up for my newsletter (email: margaretgoodsongraham [!at] gmail.com) to know when new designs are released and when they are almost OUT.

3. What do the sizes mean?
....I am able to make a variety of sizes. However, my designs are ONE size. If I have a listing for a particular design in Large, requesting it small just means I have to cut into the design to make it small. It's best to pay attention to the exact size given in the description of the listing as the exact measurements for Small, Medium, Large and X-Large vary depending on the design I've drawn and the shape of the pendant. The following is approximate:
....Small: ~ 3/4 in or 2 cm
....Medium: ~ 1 in or 2.5 cm
....Large: ~ 1 1/4 in or 3 cm
....X-Large: ~ 1 1/2 in or 3.5 cm

4. What is a bail?
....A bail is a loop at the top of a pendant for the chain to slide through. The pendants without a bail have holes in the top to allow the chain to slide through the pendant itself.
