Announcement    8-15-2019 Update: Our official site is live - Visit us at our brand new www.michellia.com for the complete Michellia collection!
-
In the past few months, we've received an overwhelming number of messages regarding seeing the exact copies of our designs outside our shop (Michellia Fine Jewelry), most notably from many other newly established Etsy shops and mass-production-focused auction sites. We would like to clarify that we are the original creator of all of the designs listed in our store, and we cannot guarantee the quality of the knockoff products being sold elsewhere by opportunists rather than artists.

On a legal level, all of our designs are original works and copyrighted as the intellectual property of Michellia™ Fine Jewelry. Any commercial use of our intellectual property without the prior written consent of Michellia Inc. constitutes trademark and copyright infringement in violation of US federal and state laws. We take design infringement very seriously and will take legal actions when necessary.

On a personal level, we believe that originality is the key to a long-lasting creative business, and while mindless imitation can seem like an easy shortcut, it will never take one far. Aside from the look, the true worth of an art piece lies in its details, and the amount of care, love, and dedication it takes to give it a timeless soul. When it comes to a precious heirloom piece, we hope everyone can choose something as authentic and original as their very own love story.

Thank you so much for supporting us as the original designer for our original artwork.

Returns and exchange details
{Cancellations}

Cancellations can be requested free of charge within 24 hours. After 24 hours of purchase, a 25% restocking fee will be deducted from your final refund.

{Returns}

We will accept returns on most pieces (see below for exceptions). Items must be returned within 30 days of delivery. Since each piece is individually handcrafted to order, all returns will incur a 25% restocking fee. After 30 days, all sales are final.

If there is a craftsmanship defect with the item(s) upon delivery, or if we have made your order in the wrong specifications (i.e. size, color, style), please contact us within 7 days of delivery and we will gladly take full responsibility to ensure your satisfaction.

Custom orders (including those with size upgrades), sale items, and ready-to-ship items are not eligible for returns and are considered final sale upon purchase.

All jewelry must be returned in its original packaging and condition without any signs of wear or alteration - we reserve the right to decline a return if the item shows signs of wear, has been altered in any way, or if the return is requested after 30 days of delivery.

{Resizing}

Our rate is $50 for resizing each ring, plus an additional $20 fee for shipping the ring(s) back to an U.S. domestic address. The customer is responsible for shipping the ring(s) to our studio with proper packaging, tracking, and insurance.

For international orders, there will be an additional international shipping fee involved and potential import taxes. We are only able to offer resizing service for international orders if the client is willing to cover these additional fees.

If you prefer to not mail the ring(s) back to us, you may also bring your jewelry to a reputable local jeweler of your choice. This option will take away the risk and cost of shipping a high-value item back and forth, and you may be able to get your ring(s) back in a more timely manner. However, since we can’t be responsible for any potential damage from someone else’s work, we recommend that you only go this route if time is of absolute essence, and if you trust the 3rd party jeweler 100%.

If you would like to arrange for our resizing service, please contact us for return instructions.

{Warranty Information}

We stand behind the quality of all Michellia jewelry and provide lifetime warranty against all craftsmanship defects. If you notice any issue with your Michellia jewelry, please contact us to arrange for an inspection. If we determine that a craftsmanship defect is present, we will service your jewelry at no additional cost to you. If we determine that the damage is outside of our responsibility, we will quote you a price for the service and only move forward once we have your approval.

Our warranty service covers:
- Replacing lost accent stone(s) for free within one year from delivery date
- Routine inspection, cleaning, and/or polishing
- Correcting any craftsmanship defects

Exclusions and Conditions:
- Fine jewelry is not impervious to normal wear, activities, or trauma. Our warranty coverage excludes normal wear and tear, resulting loss of gemstones, artificial abuse, and/or theft.
- We do not cover damaged, stained, or chipped center stone unless the defect is present upon arrival. You must notify us within 7 days of receipt if the center stone arrives to you in an unsatisfactory condition.
- Repair, sizing, or other service performed by someone other than Michellia will automatically void all warranty.
- Our warranty is non-transferrable, and has to be requested by the original buyer.
Payment
We accept Paypal as well as most major credit cards (Visa, Mastercards etc.). 100% upfront payment is recommended for all purchases - setting up layaway plans is certainly possible, but creates hassles for both parties since Etsy isn't very payment-plan friendly and requires a great amount of coordination between the seller and buyer. Before contacting us for a payment plan, please consider whether you are able to put the the full amount on your credit card and pay off later at your own pace.

To set up a payment plan:
We require at least 50% payment before making any item. Production will only begin after 50% of total payment is received, and the rest of the 50% will be due before shipment of your order.

If you are interested in a payment plan, please send us an Etsy message with the information below:

1) link of the item you are interested, with style reference (e.g. standalone or 2pc set)
2) your desired gold type (14k or 18k, rose, white, or yellow gold color)
3) your desired ring size, or chain length (for necklace)
4) when you would like to make the first down payment

All items will begin production after 50% of total payment is made and ship after 100% payment is received. No item will be shipped before full amount is paid.

Please note, if an order is canceled at any point before shipment, Restocking fee of 25% (of the item's total price) will be subtracted from your refund.

We can make special arrangements to accommodate your specific situation, so if you have any special inquiry regarding payment, please contact us directly.
Shipping
{Expected Timeline}

All Michellia jewelry is handmade to order. Our lead time varies between 4 to 6 weeks throughout the year, so please refer to the shipping section of our product detail page for a more accurate shipping timeline.

If you have a specific timeline to meet:

For U.S. domestic delivery, please place your order at least one and half (1 1/2) months prior to your desired delivery date. If you live outside of U.S, we recommend that you place your order two (2) months prior to your desired delivery date to account for potential delay in the custom clearance process.

{Rush Orders}

If you have an urgent deadline to meet (less than 4 weeks), please message or email us with the specific style (link), metal choice, and desired size. We cannot rush our standard production process, so rush orders can only be accommodated if we have the exact item in stock. Given the scarcity of our ready-to-ship inventory, it is recommended that you make plans ahead of time and allow us to craft your perfect piece to order.

If a stock piece is available in your desired style/metal choice but in a different size, we are happy to offer a one-time resizing service free of charge. Our turnaround time for resizing stock items is 7 business days. Please message or email us for our ready-to-ship stock availability.

For all rush orders that we are able to accommodate, a rush fee of $80 will be charged on top of the item's full price.

{Shipping for US Orders}

All US Domestic orders are shipped via complimentary Fedex 3-day service with tracking information and signature confirmation, and should arrive to you within 3 business days after dispatch. You may also request Fedex overnight shipping upgrade for $50. (Note: Our standard production time still applies if overnight shipping method is chosen.)

Domestic Shipping Upgrade link: https://www.etsy.com/listing/286063765/shipping-upgrade?ref=shop_home_listings

{Shipping for International Orders}

We ship worldwide. If an international shipping address is provided during checkout, an extra international shipping fee will be automatically added to your order total. All international packages are sent through Fedex International Priority shipping service, and this is the only shipping method we offer for international orders.

Delivery speed is usually between 5-7 business days after dispatch, but the exact timeline is subject to custom clearance process. We recommend that all international customers provide a contact phone number with their order to avoid unnecessary delays - you can message or email us your phone number separately if you forgot to include it with the order.

Import duties, taxes or other charges are NOT included in the price of the product or the shipping fee. These charges are the buyer’s responsibility. Please check with your country’s customs office to determine these additional costs prior to buying.

{Packaging, Tracking, and Insurance}

When your order is ready for dispatch, a separate shipping email including tracking information will be sent to you. All domestic and international packages come with standard insurance and will require signature confirmation upon delivery.

Unless otherwise requested, all Michellia Jewelry comes in a nicely-cushioned jewelry box with discreet outside packaging. For all packages, there will be no mention of the product description on the outside of the package.
Additional policies and FAQs
1) More information on the difference between 14K Gold, 18K Gold, and Platinum

Unless specifically noted, all Michellia Jewelry is crafted in solid 14k or 18K gold (not plated) or 950 platinum.

K stands for karat (not to be confused with carat, which is the weight measure for gemstones) and refers to the percentage of gold in an alloy. To illustrate: 24K gold is 100% pure, 18K is 75% gold and 25% alloyed metals, and 14K is 58% gold and 42% alloyed metals. The visual difference between 14K and 18K gold is rather negligible to the untrained naked eye, and should not be the main deciding factor when choosing between the two types of gold.

Because of its higher percentage of gold, a 18-karat piece will fetch a higher price than one of 14-karat gold. It is the most classy and traditional metal used in engagement jewelry, and will hold up to everyday wear while retaining value better over time. 18K gold is the most common metal choice for fine jewelry in Europe and Asia.

Because of its higher percentage of alloyed metal mix, a 14-karat piece offers more resistance to wear and tear, so those with active lifestyles may want to consider getting 14K gold jewelry as it holds up better in sports, manual labor, and other rigorous activities. Combined with its more budget-friendly nature, 14K gold is the most popular choice for fine jewelry in the U.S. jewelry market.

While platinum looks almost identical to white gold in terms of appearance, platinum is more dense and so more of it is required to make fine jewelry. Additionally, platinum jewelry is 95% pure platinum (vs. 58.5% gold for 14K or 75% gold for 18K), hence the reason for platinum jewelry to have the highest cost out of all fine metal options. If budget is not a concern, we typically recommend platinum over white gold as platinum will always stay true white, while white gold requires occasional re-polishing and re-plating to maintain its white color.

2) Finding out about ring size

Our standard ring size chart and conversion guide below can be used as an initial point of reference for sizing: https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0220/1944/0740/files/Michellia_Ring_Size_and_Conversion_Guide.pdf?331858

For most accurate fitting, we recommend going to a trusted local jewelry store to get professionally sized in person. If you live outside of the US, please refer to our ring size guide above for measurement conversion.

Please note that your finger may become more swollen in hot weather and less so in cold weather, so if you got your finger measured in winter, you may choose to size up by ¼ US size to accommodate for potential swelling in the summer time. If you got fitted with a band wider than 2mm, you may also want to size down by ¼ - ½ US size for a thinner band.

If you are trying to buy someone else a ring as a surprise but don't know her ring size, first try measuring one of her existing rings using our ring size guide above, or bring it to a local jeweler to get an in-person measurement. If it's a ring that she usually wears on her middle finger, her ring finger should be about 1/2 US size smaller. If you are unable to obtain an existing ring she wears, try asking her best friend(s) or close relatives for an educated guess. If all else fails, you may choose to purchase the ring in US size 6 1/2 or 7, which is the most common ring size for an average female, and can be easily resized upon a more accurate fitting in the future.

3) Care guide on your gemstone jewelry

View our complete care guide online: http://care.michellia.com

ALWAYS:
- Apply all lotions, cosmetics, and perfumes BEFORE putting on your jewelry.
- After each wear, wipe jewelry piece with a clean soft cloth to remove dirt and oil buildups.
- Clean jewelry with lukewarm water if needed; mild soap is okay for most gemstones except opals (please see separate care information for opal jewelry).
- Store each jewelry piece separately in fabric-lined box or pouch to prevent scratches.

NEVER:
- Never wear jewelry to sleep or shower.
- Never wear jewelry when doing physical work such as housekeeping, gardening, or exercise.
- Never expose jewelry to chlorine swimming pools, hot tubs, or ocean water.
- Never expose jewelry to sudden temperature changes and excessive sunlight.

4) Custom work

We are happy to accomodate design customizations if they fits within our oeuvre of work. Please contact us with your preferred design, your customization requests, and your budget to get started on the process. Additional charges may apply.

Frequently asked questions
How long do I have to wait to receive my order?

All Michellia jewelry is handmade to order. Our lead time varies between 4 to 6 weeks throughout the year, so please refer to our front page announcement and the shipping section of our product detail page for a more accurate shipping timeline.

For U.S. domestic delivery, please place your order at least one month and half (1 1/2 months) prior to your desired delivery date. If you live outside of U.S, we recommend that you place your order two (2) months prior to your desired delivery date to account for potential delay in the custom clearance process.

Please refer to the “Shipping Policy” section of our store policy page for more shipping information.

Can you rush my order?

How do I find out about my ring size?

We recommend either going to a professional local jewelry store to have your finger sized, or buying a standard ring sizer from a reputable retailer (such as Amazon). If you live outside of U.S. and use a different type of measurement that is not US ring size, please refer to this standard international conversion chart when placing your order: http://www.ringsizes.co

Please also note that your finger will tend to be more swollen in hot weather (summer) and less so in cold weather (winter), so if you got your finger measured in summer, you may choose to size down a bit and vice versa for winter.

I cannot make the full payment right now - Do you accept payment plans?

Yes, payment plan is available for all purchases. Please read about the starting a payment plan in the "Payment Policy" section of our shop policy page.

Please note that 100% upfront payment is still recommended for all purchases - setting up layaway plans is certainly possible, but creates hassles for both parties since Etsy isn't very payment-plan friendly and requires a great amount of coordination between the seller and buyer. Before contacting us for a payment plan, please consider whether you are able to put the the full amount on your credit card and pay off later at your own pace.

Are your Diamonds conflict-free?

We try our best to get my diamonds from the most reliable/ethical source, but small loose diamonds' origin can be difficult to track sometimes, since most of the diamonds used in our jewelry are smaller than 0.02 carat. We suggest white sapphires as substitution stones if you have genuine concerns, as they share similar look as diamonds and we've made many pieces with them as accent diamond replacement. Simply leave us a note in the order comment section that you would like white sapphires instead of diamonds for your purchase - there will be no price change and there's no need to message us separately.

Do you offer any warranty on your jewelry?

Please refer to the "Returns and Exchanges" section in our shop policy page for detailed warranty information.

Do you have a physical store/showroom for me to visit?

We do not currently have a physical location as we try to keep our prices down and better serve our clients. As our team and business grow, we are hoping to open a physical showroom soon in the future. In the meantime, we are happy to answer any questions you may have via Etsy conversation or email (support@michellia.com).
