Mickey Alice Kwapis - Taxidermy & Fine Jewelry

As a child, I made jewelry and took it to school in my lunch box to sell to other kids in the cafeteria. I learned how to fabricate metal jewelry in 2004 and have always had a passion for working with my hands.

I quit my job during the summer of 2012 to pursue taxidermy and jewelry design full-time, and opening this Etsy shop was the first thing I did. Since then I have trained with some of the best taxidermists in the world, taught workshops of my own globally, opened (and closed) my own brick and mortar, and learned a lot in the process.

My work is inspired by the natural world - from objects that dropped in from outer space to stones grown within the earth itself to salvaged parts of the beautiful creatures that inhabit our planet. A step into any natural history museum will be an obvious glimpse into my inspiration.

All animal parts are sustainably sourced: www.mickeyalicekwapis.com/sustainabletaxidermy

I have put countless hours of my time into doing research and collecting the best possible materials for each of my pieces. I hope you love my finished products as much as I love the process of making them. My studio is in the heart of Logan Square, Chicago - if you're ever in the area and want to see my process, let me know and I'll give you a tour!

I also teach professional-level taxidermy and specimen preservation workshops to students of any skill level - even if you have no experience at all. If you are interested in participating in a taxidermy workshop please don't hesitate to reach out. www.mickeyalicekwapis.com
