About

Saving vintage style, one pattern at a time

It's the vintage life, and how delightful it is! Midvale Cottage is about a lifetime of sewing and fashion for the family. The vintage patterns I sell are styles my grandmother wore, my mother wore, myself & my siblings wore, and my children too.

I started my Etsy shop with the sewing pattern collection of my neighbor, who collected her patterns over a lifetime of sewing for her family of four. Estate sales are still my favorite way to acquire patterns for my shop for the sheer range and variety of patterns - patterns for mom, the kids, and dad too - and craft, embroidery, and other patterns to decorate the home.

I love the the needle and fiber arts, and the ways they allow one to express creativity. I am delighted when my customers share their creations with me, sewn from the patterns they buy in my shop. Thrift stores are my favorite stores to shop in and refashioning is such a wonderful challenge.

I look forward to retiring from my day job, so I will have more time to sew, knit, crochet, embroider, and develop and expand my shop.
